I have been practicing voice TH sound for a long time. Now, it is a little comfortable to pronounce but, I still find it hard to pronouce when it is followed by a word ending with a letter R os S. Hahaha. I often end of subtituting the D sound again. Haha

Hi Keenyn. Ciao from Italy. I am an American and my wife is Italian. She has been teaching an English conversation class to high school teachers. I used this lesson's pdfs the other day as guest teacher (I used to be a French teacher--long story). Anyway, the students loved it. I thought they were going to fall off their chairs! (Pronunciation practice is completely neglected outside of private language schools where native speakers are employed.) Keep up the good work. It really works.

Dear Teacher, Appreciated for updating us with such a great tip regarding TH. There is a question concerning it which is the pronounciation of the words ( close , clothes ) you now mentioned in this clip that those words are slightly different in saying although one of Engvid teachers said that they are absolutely said the same in American English; so I'd like you to do me a favor and update me with true pronunciation. Again Many thanks
@ClearEnglishCorner5 жыл бұрын
CLOSE (the verb- as in "close the door") and CLOTHES are in fact said exactly the same in conversation. Did I say differently in this lesson- if I did that's an oops!

Thank you for this video . I have a little notice to share; when i watch american movies i keep observing the position of their tongue when they pronounce TH and sometimes i noticed that when they talk fast i think they say D instead of TH and when they want to say THOUGHT that TH they pronounce it like T . Another thing when i try to talk fast like native people and i get to when i have to say THIS THING i find it really hard to pronounce S and then put my tongue between my teeth and pronounce TH .

Good lesson! Although I didnt understand one thing: are you saying pronouncing the with d or z sound is correct? Using letter z I've never heard before. So I suppose you're talking about substitutions non-native speakers often do. Nonetheless, sometimes I think the north Americans use the with d sound in quick speech, like when pronouncing "I'll ask for the address". Do native sometimes use th with d sound?

Great question! I actually have a quick tip video coming out today that will help you with this. The lesson talks specifically about moving from /t/, /d/ and /n/ to TH but the trick works the same for /s/ and /z/ so keep an eye out and let me know if it helps!
