I have done it like that and it definitely works. I have a plant that I had started like that and it is over a foot and a half long now. You could take 6 or 8 of them and put them in a pot and make a decent plant. It just takes some time. I like to cut larger pieces with a few leaves and nodes.I have had better luck and they seem to grow a little quicker once they are rooted.

@@NatureAdventureHomesteadFamily yes.I really enjoy it because I have a couple terrariums and I like to grow my own plants from cuttings to use in the them.There are some listings on Etsy that I am really excited about trying. I found a listing for Monstera and some rare philodendrons.The price is very reasonable and I am pretty sure that they are already rooted. I am always a little hesitant about buying clippings because I worry that shipping will be delayed.

I had a pothos I bought in December and it stayed green but wouldn’t grow.. the water was keeping it green but it wouldn’t grow because the sunlight wasn’t reaching the corner of the room it was in. Has to be SOME direct sunlight but not too much. They don’t need to be directly in front of a window but they need to be near the light that comes through to it. Once I moved it near a window it grew like crazy! Perhaps try that?

How often do you change water. Also how long until roots appear/ ready for potting?
@NatureAdventureHomesteadFamily
@NatureAdventureHomesteadFamily 4 ай бұрын
I change the water every month or so. It may take about 3 to 4 weeks for new roots to appear. I wait several months before I pot them in soil. You don't have to wait that long. I always have several cuttings growing in different jars at any given time, and once I have a good amount of cuttings with roots, like 6 to 10, then I will transplant into soil. I hope that is helpful! 💚🌿

I planted one of the cuttings that started a new vine but it died as I suspected because it had no roots.
@NatureAdventureHomesteadFamily
@NatureAdventureHomesteadFamily 9 ай бұрын
You really only need one cutting with one node. Although more nodes won't hurt. It is best to have roots before you plant it in soil. Also, make sure the node is in the water. The roots grow out of the nodes. If the plant continued to grow a vine, that's normal. Just make sure there are roots coming from the node before transplanting it to soil. Does that make sense?
