Hi, Nice video and nice content. Although I needed some help with my areca palm. My plant is growing very well but I notice that the new leaves that are coming out are small/short. They don't seem to have the long stem before the leaves start. The leaves unravel very close to the soil itself. Any tips?

Although I enjoyed your video, I have an unusual problem with my Areca palm. Mine has been growing upwards for 30 some years and now scrapes my 8ft. ceiling. When I try to find a spot to separate I run into the fact that it is too far from the soil. I had always enjoyed watching the babies appear every year and thought I could keep in under control, but obviously, I can't. Since I have to move in about 4 months I am wondering if there is any hope for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
@Urbanscapegardening4 жыл бұрын
Areca palms love being trimmed. So you can trim to a manageable size and then separate it. Be careful to not disturb the roots too much. The transplant may not work
@carolkeith21964 жыл бұрын
@@Urbanscapegardening When you say trim, do you mean the top fronds? Last year I did transplant it for the 4th time with alittle help from my friend and I wish I would have seen this first since then I could've separated them. As of now, the top fronds are 6ft. from the soil top, with the lowest at nearly 3ft. I look forward to that trimming guidance, thank you.
@Urbanscapegardening4 жыл бұрын
The whole leaf till it reaches the soil. After trimming keep it exposed to bright sun in your balcony or patio and see for new growth. After that you can seperate it
@carolkeith21964 жыл бұрын
@@Urbanscapegardening Mine is 8ft tall and leaves are 3ft from the soil, so I would have to cut down the entire plant. Keep in mind it is over 30yrs. old. Maybe it isn't an Areca Palm after all.

Information is very much appreciated - lovely video: very clear speech and concise steps, with insightful explanations. I noticed you put the sand soil, separate from the compost, separate from the regular part-soil, instead of mixing them together and potting the plant as one mixed soil. Was there a specific reason for this?
@Urbanscapegardening6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words. There was no specific reason; i just felt that the sand element was less than usual, hence. You can mix all the three elements and use it in conjunction. Hope this helps! 😁
