Hello again! I wanted to ask you what to do when your stems of burro's tail keeps shriveling in he soil instead of rooting. I've trimmed, I've allowed them days worth of callousing over and still, they shrivel! HELP

I have a narrow container, (I'm using a ceramic pitcher as my cover planter and a narrow glass container inside it) so I wanted to know how to encourage splitting to maximize drape with the least amount of replanting. I will wait until it splits to trim above and replant that. Thank you so much for making this video!
@meganpahl3612 Жыл бұрын
I have a few of these pretty plants; however, I need advice as to why this latest propagation is going south on me. Even with allowing the stems to callous over, I am finding after weeks and weeks of waiting for them to root, the stems are shriveling and just pulling out. So, I trim and go again. But, I did this a couple of moths ago to my very large plant and now I am loosing leaves because they are shriveling regardless of the dampness of the soil. I am using my normal home made cactus mix so there is no reason for this. Why do the stems turn white and shrivel like this? Where are you located? Do you ever have give aways for those like me that just want a start over?!:))
@Ok-dw4gz3 жыл бұрын
Sir last question...what soil mix you use? Also how to propagate kalanchoi, Sedum makinoi and portulacca thanks😅

When i water my burros tail sometimes a few leaves fall off (mostly because I'm the clumsiest person i know). I just drop the leaves where ever there is space on the soil and it grows.

I really enjoyed your video! I knew quite a bit about this plant but you gave extra details that I never knew so BIG thank you! Question: is it common for larvae to be found in the propagating containers? I don't think I was misting them too much. I don't know where the problem started. But I did purchase a burrows tail, a string of beans and swiss cheese plant all from the same greenhouse. All 3 of those plants have been inspected and are clear of anything. But I did spray them since I found so many larvae in my propagating tray! I threw out the tray...sadly :( But now I'm afraid to start again. Need you help and advice.
@angelac264 жыл бұрын
do you recommend to trim a full pot like that or repot all in all? I have a pot I bought a month ago and it's a healthy pot full of growing burrows. but it's looking crowded. do you recommend to repot or trim. do you recommend to trim from the inside or the outer layers. I'd like to have them grow longer. thank you.

So, from a leaf, you must wait for the end to callous? But from the stem, you don't have to? Thanks for the clarification!

I had several extremely healthy plants and just gave them all away. I got sick of all the little leaves falling off every time it was bumped. Neat plants but extremely messy!
@ILovHelloKitty135 жыл бұрын
B L I’ve had one for 3 years that’s massive, in its own special place. You just have to be practice being careful, and put it somewhere you won’t be bumping it.. And this is coming from a total klutz. ❤️
@hugoh.96943 жыл бұрын
Fragile and "messy" are two very different things. This plant indeed needs to be respected and admired from a distance. It's part of what makes this plant even MORE special. Only the truly dedicated will grow it and only the truly dedicated will be rewarded with its beauty. I absolutely LOVE this plant.

Just so I'm clear, you don't have to callous the stem? I'm getting mixed information from everywhere. I live in southern Louisiana where it's humid and I am able to have succulents inside and outside. I just got my Burris tail yesterday and it broke on the biggest stem(that had 6 other bigger stems on it) I'd hate to lose it.

You said Burrows tail likes full sun. I did not know that. I live in South Texas with very hot summer heat. Would you still say to give it full sun?
@BraeheidGardens7 жыл бұрын
+Georgia Root I'm not familiar with the Texas climate. Our "full sun" (in Northern Alberta, Canada) is probably a lot different than your full sun. I have seen burros tail burn before when slightly dehydrated and being in a full south exposure though. Use your discretion!
