Thanks to your KZbin videos I now always take enough cuttings to propagate in the 3 ways you’ve shown us; in water, in a pot with rooting compound & directly into the ground with no rooting powder. It’s really helped expand my stock as one method usually does a lot better than the other 2, but it’s not always the same method, depending on the weather conditions. Last year my rosemary cuttings did best with rooting compound, but this year the ones rooted in water are way ahead of the others. It’s a real win win for me as a rather haphazard gardener so a big thank you. 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻

As you say so much can depend on the seasonal temperatures. This year has been so much cooler that my cuttings have taken longer than normal, and with more failures on hardwood types. We learn new skills each year.

Culture kits work quite well but get pricey.

Thanks for watching. Agree that it’s a great plant that more people should be growing. Great for repelling gnats too. Have fun growing loads more plants and hopefully getting flowers too. Have a nice day 🌸

Many thanks for watching and taking the time to message, so pleased you like the channel. I love how plants carry memories associated with other people we know and knew. For me, whenever I see Phlox it reminds me of one of my Grandmas. Enjoy taking a few more cuttings🌸❤️

Great video, great explanation! I live in NY and we this summer we bought 2 small lemon verbena plants from the farmers market. So far they have grown and are doing well but are starting to yellow, so today is the day I’m gonna try your tips for propagating them. Last winter was very hard, so we are expecting this winter to be tough as well. Hopefully our 2 plants won’t die and the cuttings will survive. Thanks !

Thanks for your message and I’m glad you liked the video. They do make a lovely plant don’t they. The yellowing is the plants going into autumn mode. If you have somewhere to put the plants that can offer some winter protection, or space indoors, then the plants should come back next year. They can tolerate down to minus 5-8oC so long as they don’t get too wet.

Thank you for the video, about not using rooting compound, my plants love making a liar out of me too 😊 I'm in New Zealand so different seasons, so you took these cutting late summer right?

Hi Lynn, Many thanks for watching and the message. I’m rather jealous of the fact you are in summer whilst it already feels like winter here. Cuttings mid to end of summer is fine for Aloysia. All the best and enjoy gardening in the warm🌸🌼
