This plants are supposed to cascade, no need to be tied.. gorgeous plant.

It’s tied to redistribute the weight and prevent the pot from falling over 😊

Yes I came to say the same thing. It makes a great hanging pot plant. It its tipping over it's time to transplant it with more soil. The weight helps it grow faster.

@@michelleedwards689or a heavier pot/cover pot, either way I agree and think they look much better trailing. That’s why I got one:

Thank you for this tutorial! I just bought one of these and by the time I made it home, one of the leaves bent/broke and I was wondering if I could propagate it. You answered my question! 😂 Thank you 🥰

You can dispense with the differentiation between top and bottom by planting on it's side instead, it works perfectly and results in more shoots. Have you ever tried germinating seeds?

I've had such a time with this plant! I've been growing plants for 40 years. I've never had a harder time getting a cutting to root. Maybe mine are to small. They want to get mushy and i use a chunky mix. I'm trying to save what's left again lol!

I grew an entire plant from a tiny 2 inch piece I found on the floor at Lowe’s and now every cutting I try to root gets rotted. I think I’m not letting the cutting callous long enough.

I’m guessing that the perfect location is one where there is dappled light?

I've had several cuttings die after calloused for 2-3 days then planting. One yellowed and got squishy at the bottom. The other 2 went to dust. Lol. Just flopped dry after a couple weeks. None have rooted,but they don't go bad right away. It sucks bc you think they're well then BLAH. Im going to try immediately putting it in the soil with one and doing a bag covered container with sphagnum. I do great with epiphytic plants and succulents typically. But this kid reminds me of Easter Cactus, considering behavior and care. Good luck! Playing with propping is fun,but better when it works 😂

Hi I have a cutting in water that's been there for two weeks without any movement. Would I be able to transfer the prop into soil instead or has it been wet for too long?

Why is my fishbone cactus getting roots at the end of each stem why is this happening???
@Sandromonell
@Sandromonell 6 ай бұрын
Not enough light, they revert to a thin square stem with hairs/spines and roots sometimes on both ends of that growth.

Mine did that too. I've had mine for about 3 years and saw this video and chopped it and moved it to another window. Hope it works! Poor little scraggly thing. 😂

Do you have to cover the cuttings in order for roots to form?

Painful to listen to, unorganized. Based on the commentary and since there was no follow up video one is led to belive th "no-fail" process, well, failed.

I just found this out as well. I thought they were different, but it just depends on the conditions, like how much light etc.

I have 2 different ones. One that looks like this and has very fragrant white flowers in the fall and the buds start out ochre colored (I gave cuttings to Logees in the 70's and it was in their catalogue 2 years later. They identified it as Epiphylum Anguliger). The other one has longer lobes that look like an Orca dorsal fin, they curve upward. That one has not bloomed for me in the 10 years I have had it. Images I found online call it Selenicereus anthonyanus but I see a lot of people calling it Epiphylum as well. This one has red budded flowers in the pictures. Both are closely related to the Dragon fruit.
