Love this! I was just about to get some nursery plants today! I’d love to see a video of where you place thermostat probes, especially for basking spots near the front/middle of the enclosure!

You don’t need to bleach the roots? Couldn’t the excess soil around the roots have like soil mites or something?

If you're laying them out to dry, cover the rootball with paper towel because if the roots are exposed to light they will burn. Thanks Josh.

Do you recommend the same bleach dipping technique for cacti and succulents? Are places like The Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Walmart, out of the question as supplier candidates for terrarium plants?

hoping you’ll see this even though it’s an old video, i just bought basil from whole foods to use for my bearded dragon and i was wondering if i still had to do this because when i watched your set up video you just planted to organic mint straight from the plastic so i wasn’t sure. really care about my beardie so just trying to be 100% with everything

Hey there josh. Liked the video. Since you mentioned home depot i was wondering how bad those plants are for animals. Ive read about how alot of those plants once contaminated they infect even the soil. But im wondering, are they truly awful if we clean them this way and not add to there... contamination?

I've read it is better to let them grow in organic soil after rinsing for a few weeks in many places. Is this not accurate? I just do not want to contaminate my newly set up terrium with any nasties or possibly make my beardie or tortoise sick.

What about the roots though? Don't they need to be treated?
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter

As long as the roots are rinsed, I try not to stress out the roots too much or else you can kill the plant.

After setting up bearded dragon bio degradable tank and adding bio shots, Will there need to be anything else I need to get to maintain?
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter 5 жыл бұрын
As long as you're misting/watering the enclosure appropriately and adding biodegradables to keep the microfauna flourishing, that's pretty much it.

Will I need to do that with plants purchased from you or have they already been pre cleaned? Also, how would you do a large plant such as a parlor palm?
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter 5 жыл бұрын
I recommend that with all plants. I purchase them as cleanly grown, without the nasties, but I take all precautions. Biggest thing to remember, since you are creating a closed ecosystem it is important to make sure whatever you put in is what you want, because once it's in. it's in.

Great question. I would assume so, but I would be concerned with the Iso burning the plants or the roots.
