How To Properly Hang A Suit

Ever wonder how to properly hang your tailor-made garments?
Today our founder Jonathan Cavaliere walks us through how to correctly hang your suit on a hanger for ease of use and longevity.

One thing regards presentation is to do up the bottom jacket button only while the jacket is on the hangar, to give that button some use and to ensure top, active wearing, button does not get overstressed, as that is the criucial button for wearing.

Great video, Jonathan! Quick question for you, what is the advantage of a velvet hanger as opposed to cedar? Thanks!

Thank you! The only advantage to velvet is how your suit (specifically your trousers) stay situated especially when traveling. Velvet hangers are also much lighter than Cedar. That said cedar is fantastic as well and can absorb some of the moisture your suit naturally retains after a day of wear. I hope this helps!

The million dollar question, how to orientate the trouser on the hangar? There are four ways. Combinations of trouser bottom to front or back; pant rear to left or right. It could make a difference.

Thanks for watching! I don’t mind a bit of tension on that button as my weight seems to fluctuate but that being said to make it perfect it definitely could be let out a touch around the front waist of the jacket.

What about the vest?

Same rules apply! That said place the vest on the hanger after the pants and before the jacket. Also ensure that the vest is unbuttoned so that it hangs naturally.
