Thanks for showing the correct way to install a fuel line!
@YuDaMan4 жыл бұрын
Only did it because there are some very fancy videos with OVERPRODUCED intros on youtube with totally incorrect and inaccurate guidance. I try to make my videos simple and informative so the camera work and other stuff might not be perfect or snazzy, but hopefully the content itself is useful and accurate.

very good! Just what I needed as later this week I will be doing a partial overhaul for a 20 year old MS250. Other than a spark plug chain, this "old" saw doesn't appear to have had any parts replaced. Which is quite remarkable given it was used pretty hard over the years from the owner. I just cleaned it all up today and removed the muffler box and the piston is pristine. To say nothing, I was quite surprised about the condition. Runs really really well. Three things He did suggest, based on his experience. 1. Run it with 7.5 ounces of 2cyl oil per 2.5 GALLONS (edited), versus the 6.4. This results in a fuel oil ratio that is richer on the oil lubrication side of the standard 50:1. He told me it retains all the power at that ratio but the added oil ratio gives this machine more durability and lubrication over the long term. Well, I can't argue with that. The piston looked brand New! 2. Only use 89 or better non-ethanol gasoline. And don't add anything to it other than 2cyl synth oil. Not only will that engine perform better at these higher octane rated fuel mixes, but it's well known that ethanol attracts and combines water/humidity...which is problematic for fuel and also the combustion especially in these small 2 cycl cylinders. Ethanol also has a compatibility problem with many kinds of 2cyl oil down at the 87 octane rating. Some materials, like plastic, rubber..gaskets, seals, etc, were never designed to handle ethanol for these older machines either and they tend to break down become brittle and crack or fall apart over tiime. Usually you will never see that until it's too late and you've got air leaks or fuel leaks or worse, ...little bits of gaskets or seals entering the cylinder! 3. Don't run the saw until it runs out of gas. This was not obvious, but as he pointed out, as the machine begins to run out of fuel the carb is robbed of fuel but it will still operate right down the very last lean condition until finally combustion just can't occur. This rapidly increasing lean condition creates an amount of wear on everything internal to the engine that can be avoided by doing a shutdown after a certain amount of time well before fuel run out. This also allows to check the chainsaw Bar oil at a period where you would expect to be near empty, thus preserving the condition of the chain! While a few times running the engine out of fuel into that lean condition may not cause it to seize right away, if you do this every single time you operate the machine ..over time all of that lean combustion at the end of a hot saw operation will cause gradual wear that will eventually affect the performance (reduced compression, loss of power, life of piston and crank diminishes). sometimes you have to listen to the old dudes...they have a ton of experience and it's obvious looking at this machine he knows how to maintain his stuff.

Thank you old dudes, YuDaMan, Your comments make sense, and for some reason, follows what this old dude has learned also. Many time times by trial and error, sometimes by ,"just this once" won't hurt it, and as age set in, "Why is this happening, and how do I stop it"?. I purchase 105 octane, race gas, no ethanol, 5 gallon can. 4 cycles don't need it, they like it, but timing issues. Seems that is the only way to get non ethanol in the state mandated fuel stations in california. Sounds better, runs smoother, my fuel lines are not disintegrating in a 1.5 ~ 2 year fashion, even when emptying the fuel and attempting to protect the system as the manuel states. I do hate having to do extra maintenance and fire rebuilds. When the storms hit, trees fall, I want to pull the rope and have my equipment work. Not the time for a fuel sys rebuild.

I took my 025 for a service. Dont onow if it had anything to do with this, but the saw would cut out after 10 minutes or so. When i looked the new pipe was installed the wrong way. Now, after correcting it, it seems to be running just fine 🤷♂️

Using string to pull the boot throu the rear wall is correct. I give the end of the boot two wraps of a two foot piece of cotton string and feed the ends through the round hole in the carb rear wall. I also spray a soapy water mix on the end of the boot and the hole and pull the end of the strings and the boot will come through the hole. Then, just unwind the string from the end of the boot, put the carb back on and you are done.

When you pull the boot through the rear handle it is smart to coat the boot and rear handle with soapy water to ease its pull through the rear handle. I use a Dawn and 😊water solution in a spray bottle.

Sure would like to see a video using the piece of string to pull the rubber intake manifold through. Not sure I follow that.

tie string around the end of the impulse line/hose. put string into the hole. PULL the string from inside the hole and PULL the hose into its correct position. remove the string

The J end always goes in the tank. Some fuel lines have a flat on the grommet and some have a pointer. The flat or the pointer always point towards the gas cap.

I find the timing of this video strange. I’ve had a ms250 for about 17 years, it’s 20 years old. I’ve done very little to it. 2 years ago it was run over by a car and now I’ve decided to repair it.While replacing the broken chainsaw body I realized that someone put the fuel line in upside down. I discovered this an hour before finding this video.

Something else when installed upside down it will bust in Two days has to be right. The fuel line .
