I would like to add: dont get up too fast. I stay “seated” for 15+ seconds after a set. If i dont do that, ill get a sudden rush to the head that could lead to temporarily passing out
@inevitableexpertise10164 жыл бұрын
Ya I do the same exact thing. I do that when I'm done doing decline bench also.....
@travislamming32824 жыл бұрын
Yep have to agree there. I too just stay seated for a few extra seconds and take slow breaths. I've felt the light headed affect a few times and you don't want to end up standing up too fast and one day see yourself on one of those "GYM FAILS" youtube vids! LOL.

First of all PROPER range of motion on the leg press is ONLY 4" to 6". Any more than that you're including your ass, lower back and hip flexors in a LEG ISOLATION exercise. THE BIGGEST MISTAKE people make(including Colossus Fitness) on the leg press is using a SQUAT range of motion on a leg isolation machine. Lol, grunting on 4x45 plates. My warm-up set is 12x45 for 25reps followed by a 16 set leg press pyramid workout up to 24x45 for 8 reps, Shakey Legs.

Some of those people are either genetically screwed, maybe already have bad knees (missing ligaments), and are doing one rep quarter rep max pushing with their hands against their quads.

I always get the fear when I'm stepping off the leg press machine, that the safety rails will fail and all the weight will come crashing down on my shins ahaha! A good cue my friend told me to help drive through your heels on legpress is to try curling your toes back in your shoe when you hit the bottom of the rep!

Eduardo Levy actually you have to straighten your legs but you.must make sure you fire up your quads. Its the only way to get the best out of the leg press. Theres no way of injuring yourself unless you lock your legs like a crazy person or really fast. Its like doing bench press and not locking your elbows. You are supposed to, to make it effective. Learnt this from a physio who has worked with professional footballers and was also the head physio at west ham football club for over 10 years

This is excellent. I'm 66 years old and 4 months from riding the Ragbrai, over weight with slightly compromised quads for 2 different reasons. If I ever hope to finish Ragbrai with my 3 high school friends, I need to do everything right. The prime directive for me is to avoid injury, and with the amount of weight you can add to the leg press, injury is certainly a risk. Thank you
@rebeccabannister99497 жыл бұрын
Love this vid! Leg press is definitely a favourite of mine. I have to be exceptionally careful of not completely locking out as I am hypermobile ("double jointed" as some call it) and have an extra 15-20 degrees range of motion in my knees. Have just started single leg work as I have a huge discrepancy between the strength in my legs, but 4 knee ops will do that to you! I'm a work in progress!!
@ColossusFitness7 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely crushing it Becca! The fact that you're not letting these obstacles get in your way is motivation enough. Keep it up and train safe :)

I always do slow negatives on all workouts thanks to my football coaches saying that it'll workout and give me max gains by doing that. Also didn't realize you weren't supposed to lock knees on this. Haven't gone close to my max but good thing I wanted to look up proper form just to make sure I wasn't cheating my reps and I wasn't everyone else does.

nicolas thomas you half squat too? Your knees not going below parallel is really really bad for them and you'll end up with serious injuries.
@mindtostrive89787 жыл бұрын
It depends on your individual body's range of motion. Some people, like myself, will feel knee discomfort when extending too far past 90 degrees even with great form. Others, like the guys in the video, are fine with it. It's generally easier to get past 90 and not hurt your knees using lighter weight. However, with more weight, it'll feel a little different.
