How to Properly Wire 12v, 24v & 36 Volt Trolling Motor Batteries In Your Boat (Series vs. Parallel)

Short Tip Saturday #1: In this video I will show you the proper way to connect your batteries when installing a 24v or 36v trolling motor. I also explain the difference between series and parallel configurations and how using a parallel battery configuration can benefit 12v trolling motor users.

One more question. My boat has an on board charger, now that I have 2 batteries wired for 24 volts, do I unhook the jumper wire before I charge a battery or leave it hooked up?

@@markjennings9527 You can charge both batteries separately at 12v each with the jumper wire in place. I have a 4 bank onboard charger that's connected to all my batteries. I do not have to remove the 2 jumpers on my 36v bank to charge.

Can you? Yes. Should you? No. The load would be unbalanced and would place unnecessary strain on the single battery.

You'll connect it to the same terminals I connect the meter to in the video. The unused terminals on batteries one and three.
