The biggest issue with sleeves and cases, is debris! If theres debris on the card or in the plastic that is invisible to the naked eye, it will damage the card when theres no movement in the thing your holding it in 😅

On a side note, it's not that top loader pages are inherently worse, it that modern pages are double sided with a textured surface that helps keep the cards from slipping out. There have been modern top loading pages with the textured surface, and the cards stay in very well, but it's been years since ive seen those. Side loading pages are more of an anti theft benefit as they make it harder for someone to employ some slight of hand to remove cards from your binder while you are watching.

@@sleevenocardbehindthanks for getting back to me! Noted, 1st edition cards are quite expensive unfortunately… I guess we always have the option to collect in Japanese as well where prices are a bit more affordable

Do you tape your top loaders together at the top? If so what is the colored tape you use?
@sleevenocardbehind17 күн бұрын
That’s just a sticky tab that I attach to the sleeve. It lets me easily pull the card out of the top loader
@Nishik12311 ай бұрын
Have you tried cardboard gold toploader fit sleeves? I've been using them on my gemloader toploaders and they are fantastic! It really adds an additional sense of protection and security and honestly just physically feels better. With pull-tab sleeves, it pretty much makes it so the card doesn't move at all due to the toploader sleeve covering the top. It's also nice that I can preserve the crystal clear toploader forever. I always hated how toploaders naturally collect dust/debris/scratches, so definitely recommend if you haven't tried yet!

d-ring binders can be ok, just more risky. gotta follow alot of rules to make sure they don’t get damaged. in that case portfolios are better for ease of mind

Awesome video! I just started collecting pokemon cards but I still have some questions, if I were to collect cards in a binder would one perfect fit be enough or should I go with two? And for one touches, would two perfect fit also be overkill?
@sleevenocardbehindАй бұрын
For the binder it’s really up to you how you want to do it. As for the one touch, I’m not sure if it would fit a double sleeves card very well. There is definitely diminishing returns by double sleeving
@Rain49_1Ай бұрын
@sleevenocardbehind wdym by diminishing returns?
@sleevenocardbehindАй бұрын
@@Rain49_1 I mean the first sleeve is going to do 95% of the work, you're only adding a little bit of extra protection by using a second sleeve

i’ve been using these massive staples d ring binders for all my modern collections ive heard other people say that you shouldn’t use 3 rings anymore and this and that, from what you say in your video, and my experience, it seems like a big d ring binder can be totally acceptable if you’re careful ? is there any other reason i should avoid using these

You’re right, ring binders are fine as long as you are careful. If you know what you’re doing then everything should be ok

You left out a very big risk to your cards,... or anything you are trying to preserve... temperature stability. A large temperature swing causes items to expand/contact at a molecular level and when this occurs over and over, it weakens the bonds and thus, the item can become weak/fragile. If you've every picked up an antique item and it just seemed to start shedding "layers" or deteriorate anywhere you touched it... that was most likely from being stored in a non-stable temperature environment. Obviously, your cards will be fine over the short term, even with daily 30* temperature swings, but over the long term, your cards are going to look like garbage regardless of if they are in a penny sleeve/toploader. Thanks for the video!
@sleevenocardbehind11 ай бұрын

I'd probably say using the ETB sleeves should be avoided. Pretty much any other sleeve should be fine.
@sleevenocardbehind9 ай бұрын
Why’s that?
@arnold-moger9 ай бұрын
@@sleevenocardbehind Have you tried using them before? They are rigid around the edges, so you have to make sure you slide the cards in and out perfectly so the card does not scrape the edges. And even if you do that, you really have to force the card into the ETB sleeve for the last 5-10%. I know some other sleeves are still rigid like the ETB ones, but they don't have the issue of the last 5-10% having resistance. Hopefully that makes sense!
@sleevenocardbehind9 ай бұрын
Yea actually I did a video specifically on ETB sleeves, I just wanted to hear your opinion! And I agree with you 100%. The ETB sleeves I think are designed that way for the tcg. A tighter fit is necessary for shuffling and handling a deck, and that’s also why they have a matte finish now. Personally, I don’t use ETB sleeves for any valuable cards.
