The holidays are almost here, and if you struggle with sleep or your sleep is easily disrupted, you might already be feeling some anxiety over the holiday get-togethers, late nights or early wake-ups.
When you are unable to fall asleep easily, it can bring on lots of fears or anxiety.
So, what can you do about it?
In Dr. Colin Espie’s article The 5 principles of good sleep health, let’s explore the Fifth principle: Protect your sleep. ( onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/1... )
I encourage you to take the time to read the article a few times to see how you can support yourself to achieve better sleep.
Here is what Dr. Espie says about protecting your sleep:
Sleep thrives on a pattern.
The racing mind is the fiercest enemy of sleep.
Don’t force yourself to sleep.
Lifestyle factors can affect our sleep.
Using tablets and smartphones before bed disrupts sleep.
In this video, I refer to each of these points and suggest how you can protect your sleep this holiday season. Then it’s up to you to decide which ways will work best for you.
I wish you a happy holiday season full of deep, refreshing sleep.
Hugs,
Carol
