Thanks for the video, as usual. Been working on those line drives, and still coming up a bit short unfortunately. I'll get in pulling shape soon though! Also, I'm committed somewhere for college, and let's just say I'm excited to leave my current JV team for another JV team.

this is interesting @0:49 or so.. he's throwing or unwinding before the front foot is down already after the x-step.. this is like counter to what disc golf say when they do the same x-step movement for their drives.. they are in the process of winding AFTER the front foot is down.. i akin the pull and the disc golf drives to be literally the same move or "motive" as a pull because you don't have the pivot set requirement in the pull and both aim to have greatest distance or maximum time aloft..

Hey Jonny, how about starting position on the line? When pulling with the IO, do you have a preference of where you're pulling from on the goal line? And when do you find it more effective to pull OI? How much does your form change between pulling IO to OI?

Sorry i'm not Jonny but hope I can help: When pulling with the IO, do you have a preference of where you're pulling from on the goal line. Search youtube for: Frisbee Rob Pulling and look at the A and B arrows he uses. when do you find it more effective to pull OI As a right handed thrower : A Left to Right Cross Downwind , an OI with height and spin , you can get it to their end zone as the wind helps and it will come in blady. I also like OI in a downwind How much does your form change between pulling IO to OI? Its similar but the follow through is different , also on the I/O you need to be very carefull about the height , you don't want it comming back to you

Hey Colby! Great question. In terms of line position, I like to break the field up into 5 sections. If 3/5 is the middle section, I pull from 4/5 (right of center) for IOs and 2/5 (left of center) for OIs. My go-to pull is OI because it will allow the disc to float more in the air and gain more distance if it has the chance to go through all three stages of flight. That being said, certain conditions (i.e. wanting to pin teams on a specific part of the field, etc) can make IOs the best option, so it's great to have both in the toolkit. The form shouldn't change too much between the two looks. The form that I demonstrate in this video is geared toward OIs. To pull IO while still using this guidance, you want to imagine that there is a hula hoop around your body, twist the hula hoop down at a 45 degree angle, and make sure that you're pulling the disc through on that diagonal plane with an IO angle throughout your motion. Committing to this angle throughout the pulling motion is what makes for a great IO pull. In the end, it's all about practice! Hope this helps!

How much raw strength is needed too perform this or is it all technique
@Gameboob Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I've always been average build, weak upper body (can do 3 chin ups max), no abs, and I can throw a backhand about 65 yards in no wind standing still (as in not a pull). Not the best, and not hucking goals from my own goal line like Nutt, but no gym time needed for decent damage. Just lots of practice.

Excellent guide to backhand pulls. Then the next video is going to be forehand pulls?

@@IHACKER316 Thank you for the reference Ihacker. I found his “eight secrets” to be very useful. I am particularly fond of secret number 2, “put out the cigarette” as I did that naturally when I started playing ultimate in 1980. I started Ultimate to find an endeavor to replace my martial arts training, which I’d just quit. My best strike (reverse punch) became my best throw…a forehand thumb’r which I could throw into a strong wind without the edge getting caught, carrying the disc sideways. Very stable flight because the nose stayed down but it never went the 70 yards of the field. It was hard to get it to go 60 yards.
