9 times out of 10 you can hit the center of the axle with a mini sledge and it'll pop out, no need for a slide hammer.

I been hearing that the early model Explorer with the live axle diff 8.8" i think had a 31 spline limited slip & pretty bullet proof.. I've been toying with the idea of slinging my old borg warner for this setup.. what's your thoughts on this idea Cobber?

Yeah it’s a good swap. Parts are cheap and easy to get.
