Thanks for the video man. I'm starting to skate and I've always been feeling my push is just "trying to not kill myself while awkwardly going forward". I'm gonna try to train a bit with my front leg like you recommended, maybe my board felling will improve a bit. I've been told by my friend I skate with that my balance is visibly shifted to the front; I think maybe it's connected to my "push" issue? If not, I'd love to watch your vid for begginer skaters about balancing your weight on board (it's a bit embarrassing to ask for such a trivial thing, but hey, you've got to learn it somewhere).

This video works the same for learning to push Switch. I will say also for balancing on one leg is to do it over bumps, manholes and cracks to help for dexterity. Those bumpy dots for blind people at traffic crossings are really good for this also. Just skate back and forth over one of them for an hour and you'll master balancing on one foot. It's how I learned to push Switch!

I got my board last Christmas, its a Deathwish board but I got it prebuilt with little research and am kind of paying the price for it. The board is 8'38 inch, and im 5'2-5'4 with a size 7 shoe so its a little big for me. The trucks are too small, the wheels are in between cruising and tricks which hardness which is not ideal, and the whole thing overall was pretty cheap since it was 110 or 120 with them building it for me for 10 bucks (and a included skate tool). I would say do your research 100%, I recommend the Tactics youtube channel and go for it if you're confident man. Ask more experienced people if you can too. This next birthday I'm gonna splurge for about a 200 dollar setup 🙏

what part of my foot should I be pushing with? I've tried two ways: with the front half of the foot and the toes (so the foot bends at the toes, like in running) OR with the whole flat of the foot, more like in walking? The first way seem to get more power but it also gives me a lasting pain in the inner front part of my foot, the second way spreads out the pressure more evenly and hurts less. I'm not sure if the pain is from bad technique or because I'm a beginner and my feet are not used to the motions yet. Thanks for reading :)

I got my first board yesterday, and after only about 20-30 minutes of riding around my neighborhood I developed a nice blister on the bottom of my big toe, so I didn’t go out today. Is this normal for new skaters? Will my skin get tougher over time with consistent riding and not tear so easily? Or is it something wrong w my shoes, pushing method etc. I push with like the balls of my feet (shoes weren’t tied down super tight but they were snug)
@Loki-pd3zj Жыл бұрын
Blisters are pretty normal. I remember a few from when I started. You will develop tougher skin after a while. Try thicker socks and make sure there is little to no rubbing of your foot inside your shoe.
