Okay this was actually really impressive ! I've ordered a longboard and I'm so nervous to start cause everyone I watch is so amazing so it's cool to watch a new person at it
@sophiel20363 жыл бұрын
hey!! i have a longboard, and they're super fun and a lot easier to get the hang of so i definitely think it's a good place to start, but most longboards aren't skateable in the same way trick boards are because they're mainly made for cruising. my longboard is slightly longer than the average trick board and it's a completely different shape. it doesn't have a nose that sticks up, and the tail doesn't stick up as high, which means it's much harder to pop and get air, and difficult to flip once you move on to tougher tricks. longboards are also heavier than trick boards, and the wheels are larger and made of a slightly more malleable material (which is why they're more comfortable in my opinion). have fun longboarding, just remember they aren't made for the same thing! :)
@HB-kx7gy2 жыл бұрын
@@sophiel2036 hi just a question, do you think cruisers or longboards are better for beginners?
@supernovanebula2 жыл бұрын
@@HB-kx7gy hi I know it’s not the same person but I wanna try to help with your question. If your trying to start and get good balance I’d recommend longboards. They are wider and easier to balance on with bigger wheels. If you are trying to start doing tricks then buy a trick board from early on to get used to it. If you’re trying to cruise around a city area no tricks just fun then get a cruiser

You do have good balance. I think you did great with your first time on a skateboard. Though I don't recommend the ollie as a first trick. There are many easier tricks you can try beforehand. And don't forget to practise the carving turns where you put more weight on your toe side edge or heel side edge (alternating between the two.)
@Awildmay2022 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing
@Kawaiicup1182 жыл бұрын
What are the easier tricks ?
@anzaeria2 жыл бұрын
@@Kawaiicup118 One easy trick I highly recommend before trying ollies is rolling off a gutter with your front wheels raised. If you're on a sidewalk / footpath, approach the gutter at moderate speed. Just before you reach the edge, raise your front wheels so that only the back wheels roll off and land with all four wheels together. You could also try a Frontside Boneless. And there's kind of a similar trick where you stand holding the board with one hand. You could hold the toeside edge of your board or the nose (your choice.) Then jump into the air and position the board under your feet with your hand. Then let go and land. I recommend trying this on grass first. Later on, you could try on concrete. When you get more confident, you could try the jump off a gutter or bench, ledge etc. Have fun!

Yea to turn you lean in the direction you wanna turn, and you have to loosen the trucks (you’ll notice between the wheels on the axle thing there is a cylindrical thing that has a thing on it to loosen), and that way they move so you can turn (I had to watch a KZbin video to learn how to ride a skateboard). Also they recommend learning an Ollie first because it’s the basis for many other tricks (like a kick flip, pop shuv-it, nollie, etc.). Also, the jumping in the air thing might actually be a good technique to work on how your legs move (like I can do an Ollie with the pop and everything but my back leg never leaves the ground hardly so the board doesn’t go very high). So I might actually borrow that, thank you.

@JonesYHF3 жыл бұрын
Wasn’t bad you know, problem is a lot of people don’t realise at this stage an ollie is the last thing you should be worrying about, you need to “become one” with just rolling around, pushing and feeling comfortable with being on the board, people often worry about what people think and honestly no one cares, skaters know how hard it is, they have all been through the same falls and scrapes, 99% of people give up quickly because it’s not easy and takes time, you can kick a ball, shoot a hoop as soon as you pick it up and see progression, all extreme sportsmen/women have the same traits, addictive personalities, a never give up attitude, and sometimes quite reclusive, we’re all the same and it creates a lot of very strong friendships, if you need help skating, go to your local skatepark and talk to people, might be the best thing you’ll ever do!
