Pretty cool, one thing I thought about watching this video was, you could weld the adapter rim to the outside rim and cut square notches into the adapter rim. Then you can weld square like notches into the running rim so when you tighten them down with bolts to secure it then the forward and reverse torque will actually be pushed through the welded square notches running around the whole radius of the rims. Then the torque will push on running and adapter rim instead of just the 2 bolts holding the rim with friction as it is.
@chud3275 жыл бұрын
Good idea and thanks for watching.

Both very smart ideas. The first may be known from application of doubles on tractors, the second to my knowledge it totally original. A lot is probably to learn from the way doubles and triples are mounted on tractors? Both good ideas though👍 The use of 'spacers or adapter rims anyway is a major plus compared to tires that are mounted to one another without space. This allows the side of the tyre to move outward and gain contact with the ground. One disadvanteg of welding the adapter rim to the outside rim is that you can't use the outside rim for other purpose anymore, so this is even more flexible. Well done.

@dodgeme1986truck7 жыл бұрын
That is exactly the same as the pipe spacer mentioned in prior comments on your other videos just done with trailer rims instead... also you will want to have your dually tire pressures staggered to save your transaxle usually outer tires should be at 1/2 to 2/3 the pressure run in the inner tires. Also it looks like you need to air down some more or add more weight you're not getting full tire contact with the ground (full contact will double the traction and climbing capabilities like when you were backed into that small berm) increasing the tread lug contact and Traction

@thevox10754 жыл бұрын
Travis McAllister I can answer that. Duals do offer better traction and floatation, but has to be done right. The weight of the machine must first be ballasted properly, or you get less traction due to floatation. Tires also need inflated to match the new ballast load. If floatation is your only goal, add no ballast and decrease tire inflation. Axle mounted duals always can deliver the torque load better than rim mounted duals. But the most important thing to ever consider, is can your machine take the extra load that duals add? That’s the actual factual science of it. But in this case, he just wants to do it for fun and it’s his machine, so....no harm/no foul.. some manufacturers might even ok this depending on the application. Like mowing steep grades, loose soils, or anything that requires extra traction or floatation or stability. Some tractors that weren’t meant to be turbocharged in the Midwest were fitted with them in Colorado, because ambient air was thinner, so it required induction. Circumstances sometimes requires modification.

Yes, I am figuring it is just a matter of time before I am looking for a new rearend... Thanks for watching.

I think that would go pretty good in the snow with the wide footprint.

The goal today is to get it stuck, so that tomorrow we can build something with 8 rear tires to pull it out. Lol

I am building a Lawn tractor front end loader. This would be the ticket for my traction issues powering into a load of dirt. No ? Oh..... And how much do I have to spend on Tires to do this ?
@chud3276 жыл бұрын
I can remember, I bought two sets close together. I think these were $50 each and the dirt devils were $35 each off of craigslist. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

Can you Make a dulie by using 3 allthreads?
@chud3274 жыл бұрын
You can, but you would probably have to drill the triangle pattern for the holes. I thought about doing it with 4 all-threads next time. Thanks for watching.

Duals and I think you need a 25hp in there with a bigger transmission
@chud3276 жыл бұрын
The 17.5 has been doing great with the duals, but it now needs a new belt. I may pulley swap it again, since I will be buying a belt anyways. How would you like to see the deere with duals.

Is that some kind of limited slip differential?
@chud3275 жыл бұрын
We call it a one legger, I need to lock it. Hopefully I can get that done soon. thanks for watching.

It's a good thing you kept to the stock rear tire size (even with duals) with the ag tires. going with larger dia. Tires would've killed the transaxle even with only single tires on due to leverage priciples a taller tire requires much more torque to turn where the duals are like adding wheel weights however the duals add more case flex loads due to the spacing (lever length) going to the doc locker 2.0 will greatly negate the case flex due to the case acting like a pair of bearings due to the 1 piece axle vs 2 piece axles which make the case act as 4 bearings on 2 offset side load shafts instead.
@chud3277 жыл бұрын
They are actually 2 inches taller, but the massive lugs probably add another 5-10 inches worth of tires.. Thanks for watching.

By law duallies require dual cup holders. You should always have a spare (BEER)
@chud3274 жыл бұрын
So funny, I went through the drive thur last night with it and I had a bag and 2 cups and zero cup holders.... I could have used two cup holder last night so much. I will put that on the list of needed improvements and thanks for watching.

I don’t think the automatic Deere’s rear end would hold up. It would look cool though
@dodgeme1986truck7 жыл бұрын
You are right it won't handle it the hydraulic pump and motor are not capable of handling the loads the cubic cm displacement on the pump is too low and will cause it and the motor to rapidly wear out within weeks or months not years and they aren't cheap to replace however he could upgrade it with a heavier transaxle like a k66 for 23 inch tires so it could handle duals then

Do you notice any belt slippin?? Is that tractor have a modified clutch or stock or anything???
@chud3277 жыл бұрын
It doesn't seem to slip unless you go deep in the water and the belt gets wet. It will slip good then. It has the stock clutch set up, maybe that will help save my rear from breaking. thanks for watching.

Do I absolutely need to space them ? I must have forgot your issues with the tires just up next to each other.
@chud3276 жыл бұрын
No spacers worked, but the tires seemed to always wobble a bit. With the spacers, they don't wobble a bit. Thanks for watching and good luck.

You should air down the first tire so you get more tread on the ground with the second
