This video is like 50% what I had to do to get pokémon running for my other video so it's pretty neat to throw the everdrive into the mix so you don't have to change cartridges The wall paper is a cool feature but it needs weird sizes for it to be compatible with different answers going around online but overall it's a cool thing to have laying around

Make sure to set you save method to "FORCE S-RAM" in the menu before starting a Gameboy game, otherwise you won't be able to save or load.

I have a question. When I play converted Gameboy Roms, I can actually do save states and load save states. But every time I load a save state, "Header error" appears and no save state is loaded. Do I have to create something else? There is also no "save_db.txt" file. How can I create and load save states for Gameboy Roms?

Sometimes certain games are just buggy especially since doing these conversions has very low support. I would try other games and see if you have the same issue to confirm it just isn't this game you're trying

My only concern with the x5 is I am unsure if the additional emulators are possible or not to utilize. No one on KZbin shows anything else besides NES. And most reviews are not as in-depth as yours. This is where I’m not sure which way to go in my purchase..thoughts?

Everything should run the same, the emulation for those games itself will always be spotty, some games work and some don't because I mean you are just emulating on an N64. The conversion roms will work for sure

So I don't know if anyone can help me, but I was curious on something. I know the NES emulator works well, however is there an NES to N64 converter? I'm asking because honestly I saw how people are putting Gameboy games on cartridges like the Pokemon games, and personally? I want to do the same with an NES game. For example I think it would be really spiffy to put the first Legend of Zelda on a cartridge. I found out about Neon64, but, I don't think you can actually use it to convert an nes rom into an n64 rom.

i've got the ed64 x5 Im also using a mac but as far as compatibility ive had no issues i can get the gbc's to work but the internal saving i can't eg playing Pokemon red. the instructions on the website doesn't mention the x5 so I'm just going through the stages as if it was x3 i've followed the steps including trying to add the CRC code to that save_db.txt file but it keeps saying i'm not allowed to edit the document so i have no idea what to do now other than trying to see if the save states will work without glitching

@@BelowAverageGaming just to clarify above are we talking about the rom converter site you used in the video or another website The only instructions as far as in game saving (not save states) on that converter site says this To get this to work with everdrive V 3 or lower you need to specify that in save_db.txt using the rom's CRC code. By adding the codes generated below when you convert a rom. Which is what I tried to do but the txt file won’t let me save after editing it Should I move the file off the micro SD onto desktop and see if it will let me save and add it back in or do I need to create a new txt?

I would bring it to the desktop and try it that way as you said If that still doesn't work for you I would try to reach out to the owner of that site (James Lambert) because it could be a bug that needs to be reported

Hey, as far as the save go I haven't personally tried it, so I would check it out and just see if your saves are there Secondly, I did cover it at 8:20 as far as where to put your games and how to access them If you're looking on how just a boot into alt 64 then I believe if you open the alt 64 file and go into ED64P there should be a program in there most likely called Alt 64 and all you have to do is open it. Sorry if it's not super descriptive, I'm currently at work at the moment so I can't check

As long as the games are loading there shouldn't be any problem? But if you're getting a black screen that seems to me like there could be a misplaced file potentially in there. What should happen is that It should boot you into the same normal menu screen you always see

@@BelowAverageGaming What I did is having the original ED64 plus OS, the one that comes preinstalled with the cardtridge, then create a folder and unzip the contents of the alt64 os for the ed64, the one you downloaded in the video. Once in the ed64plus menu, I go to the folder then look for the ED64P folder and try to launch the OS64.v64 or the ALT64.ini but nothing happens, I just get a black screen, at least when I load the other emulators in the folder I get the loading bar and loads into them.

It’s also worth noting the conversion website has a note that says if you have the x7 ignore this section, but then below that, states this emulator has a save state feature. So it’s hard to interpret wether he means ignore all this information altogether or it’s a note that in order to do this on the x5 or below you must do this but in general when using this emulator, regardless of the model, you must utilize this save state feature

So on the website where you do the conversion for the ROM, there's saving instructions at the bottom of the site On top of that you should be able to use in-game saving And lastly you should be able to hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds which should cause a save

Sounds like a faulty cart to me if it was working and now it doesn't. Since the ED64 has an SD card in it, you can always try adding games to it and see if that fixes it

Yeah I saw your deleted comment too, sorry the response was to your liking I made this video by formatting the SD for the people out there that are not tech savvy enough to pick through the files that they need and don't need. Backing up everything and starting fresh is just easier especially to make this video. I got the font by updating the software for this, nothing I did specifically for a specific font Lastly, again formatting is just opinional. Only benefit is that in my opinion it's easier and it may help when you try certain ROMs

What converter do you use for images. (I’m running Mac) do you use an online converter? When I finally get an .bmp image on the cart and N64 and I press “Change Wallpaper” I get a prompt that says (Walpaper must be .bmp 640x480 16bit)

Excellent video man, much appreciated 👍🏻... but if anyone could possibly kindly help me out with the PAL side of building the sd card, I'd greatly appreciate I followed this kind guide step by step, although on website I note: this version is for NTSC consoles. To use PAL edit ALT64.ini change PAL options (can use notepad) * I done the editing of the ALT64.ini by changing TV mode to (2) being PAL were the changes needed to be made but then I got a blue screen error message after inserting the cart stating: create ED64P folder on root, and put OS64P.V64 into /ED64P but this was already setup on the root along with the other folder named ED64 If anyone could give me a pointer, I'd greatly appreciate, as I'm pulling my hair out 🤯 Thanks v.much in advance👍🏻

Hmmm, I have an idea. Ever heard of a region changing tray? They are like $10 and easy to pop in Once it's in, you can run both PAL and NTSC games. So then you can just do the NTSC version of this hack instead

Truth be told if you bought an ED64 its to play N64 games on real hardware.... if you are playing roms of any other console, expect a bad time... this is a 25 year old system. Get a raspberry pi or jailbreak a ps3 or something.

hi. you don't happen to have these zip folders? the official site is gone now. I've used files from other sources but cant get any emulators to run with this config. without your fabo344.zip and the other EMUS.zip i cant do anything. even having the alt zip you have would be great. thanks
