An excellent video. I saved myself about $50 using only one can of slime, fixing 8 tires all with many punctures (we ran over 'puncture vine' or dry spiky goatheads). Shrader valves are dead easy but 6 of the punctures were on tubes with presta valves. The only difficult part is getting the screw pin to come back into the valve housing (4:35 on the video). One tube was so stubborn that the pin would not come back through the valve housing no matter how hard I tried. If you get into this situation, then as a last resort and this worked for me, is to poke an unfurled paper clip through the tube (thereby giving an extra puncture, which the slime will eventually seal) and push the pin back up into the housing.

thank you sir I am glad that you saved some bucks. yes Schrader valves are dead easy but Presta valves they are really tricky especially with the pin once it goes into the tube it's really hard to get it back so you see that's why I had to take the wheel off to make my process a lot easier as a lot of people did not understand why I had to take the whole wheel of the bike

A lot of my friends who ride talk smack about slime, but I'm a big guy even after losing weight. I had a problem last night about a half a mile from home and the tube sealed up without refilling. I was able to make it home. Hell if Slime sponsored me in the MS150 I would ride their bike with pride! Their product works and has gotten me out of several jams. Slime is also great for ATV's and cars and trucks!

By the way, in all of my tubes i can unscrew the inner valve completely and easily so this is another tip: to verify that the tube you buy has a valve that can be unscrewed

Great video. I made a mistake by forgetting to shake the slime. A chunk of snot got stuck in the valve stem. I blew it out and then had to find the core in the tube and work it back to the stem. I ended up putting more slime in than I needed(to make sure I got plenty of clotting factor after shaking the bottle), but it works great.
@salsalawyer5 жыл бұрын
Just get removable valve core tubes. Remove them, put the Slime through the stem, replace the core. Pump the tubes and done. It's much easier now!
@johnbravo75425 жыл бұрын
Yeah,I agree,he should have bought new tubes with removable presta valves,and used his original as spares,but I guess he just wanted to show it is possible with non removable presta valves.

I use a spring loaded clothespin to clamp the valve core in place after pushing it inside the tube instead of holding it in place with my hand, allowing 2 hands to deal with the fill operation. Good explanation otherwise though.

I brought a tube of slime just to have on me when out on the bike… seems like I need a tool box too! Thought it would be more easy than this, may be easier to have a spare inner tube.
@juancoca96202 жыл бұрын
The idea behind using slime is that you prefill your tubes with it. Really saves you from having to do any field replacements. In most situations, the slime will “direct” itself to the puncture and instantly seal it using microbeads with the existing psi. It does this instantly.

there are 2 flattened sides on the valve assembly ( the piece the valve cover screws on.) Why not just unscrew the entire valve assembly and you won't have to worry about dropping the valve pin in the tube?
@brendaleetv6 жыл бұрын
Yeah sometimes the box dosent say if it has an uncrew valve. The only way to find out is to look at the valve, of which sometimes the tube is wrapped in plastic and once you open it, you have to buy it.
@stefanbanev6 жыл бұрын
It's a strange way... in fact, from my experience, there is no need to dismantle the tube and unscrew the secure-tip. Just deflated the tire and since there is no internal air pressure and Presta valve has no spring the sealant liquid gets inside easily with no resistance, you may rotate the wheel 45...90 degree to give more room for liquid to flow down. I did it many times with all my road bikes, it takes couple minutes to execute. Pls let me know what may be wrong with such straightforward way to put sealant liquid inside the tube.
@Eddi3Pwns2 жыл бұрын
I know this video is old, but I don't think newer versions of slime (that have tiny bits of shredded tire) would be able to fit through, the valve core would be in the way. I just saw other videos like this one and they do the exact same process. The whole tire does not need to be disassembled though from the wheel, nor be removed from the bike either if you elevate it; it'd be easier to remove part of the tire enough to reach the inner tube, clamp the pin, and add slime.
@crabtrap2 жыл бұрын
@@Eddi3Pwns i don't think bike tube slime has the tiny rubber chunks, as tube tire develop pin hole or pich flats 95% of the time. slime bike tube is almost pure 'green stuff' with perhaps micro particles far smaller then the presta valve gaps

Hey dude, I recently bought the exact same bike as you. Just wondering what's the difference between this slime bottle and the other products? What a nightmare, I’m hoping I can replace my Presa tube with a normal valve. What are the benefits of a Pressa valve?
@mattspen5 ай бұрын
This type is a nightmare, there is a type with a removable core (like Schrader) making it way easier. Benefits: Presta can thread to the rim and reduce pinch flats. (Some Schrader are threaded, rarely) Presta can more easily have air pressure lowered depending on terrain although low can cause flats, but not so with tubeless which is by far my preferred setup

if you're going through all that trouble just to put slime in it you'd be better to just patch it or change the tube altogether , the idea of slime is to fix the punture without removing the wheel from the bike
@THEITALIANSTALLION14 жыл бұрын
Yes I am going through all this trouble not to fix a puncture! As the title states how to put slime in to presta valves. Which in this case it is not with removal core. Not pre filled inner tube with slime. Hope these clears any misconception.

Why didn't you remove the entire valve core, fill it then reinstall valve core? That way the slime goes right into the tube via the unobstructed stem, blow through the stem to clear the stem, then reinstall the entire valve core?

Unfortunately the valve core is not removable so that's why I had to take out the tire and the tube then push back the pin which is in the presta valve in order to put the slime in. that's the only way you can do it there is no other way. thanks for stepping by
