How to put up and take down a dome hide: In this tutorial I show how I set up my pop-up dome hide for wildlife photography - and take it down again. If you are thinking of buying this type of hide then hopefully this video will help. Whilst this is purely for photography, it still applies to hunting and shooting (not that I'm into that..). These kind of hides are similar to the Amercian Doghouse Blinds. Watch to the end for Outtakes! Please like or share the video. Add a comment... or feel free to ask me a question in the comments below!

This video saved me hours of frustration getting my hide down. I tried following the video on the hide I purchased and couldn't get it to collapse and fold easily. Your method is easy and simple to remember in the field. Thanks Paul and keep posting the excellent videos.

I have the exact same hide. When I was shopping for one I was disgusted at how much more expensive the "proper" photography hides were compared to the hunting blinds. As far as i can tell they are basically the same, except the photography ones have some openings lower down.
@PaulMiguelPhotography
@PaulMiguelPhotography 5 жыл бұрын
They are expensive, yes. The thing is, the ones from Wildlife Watching Supplies for example, are much, much better material - they last a lot longer, and they seem less problematic in the wind. I might get myself a large dome hide, but it's a tough call. The cost is about £320, compared to about £60 for the hide in this video.! So I could buy 5 of em..!

I have a similar pop up hide but it is taller and without poles. I demonstrated it at my camera club last year and it went up in seconds. When I tried to take it down, it got twisted and refused to be put away, much to the amusement of everyone watching! At home the next day I put it up and down within three minutes.

Hi Paul, thanks so much for posting this. Having opened up my hide in the house it was great to find out how to fold it up again!!!! Hi Paul. I have a question about this blind and I'm hoping you can help me. I'd like to have a floor inside of the blind; what if I were to purchase two of these and insert one inside of the other, but upside down in order to have the roof of one as my floor? Could that work?
@PaulMiguelPhotography
@PaulMiguelPhotography 2 жыл бұрын
I have never thought of that. One problem I think is that the windows might not match up. I would just use some tarpaulin as floor. Or what I often do is use a square piece of wood to sit the chair on

Awesome. Wildlife watching supplies hides are proper quality and so durable, but I find the standard one a bit small and the seating too low. The ones I use are great, and much much cheaper, but not as durable and if not sheltered they will catch the wind! Let me know if you need more advice Phil. Maybe try the cheaper one first...

@@PaulMiguelPhotography I could do with all the advice you have Paul, as I don't have the foggiest about hides. bear in mind i'm just over 6ft tall
@PaulMiguelPhotography
@PaulMiguelPhotography 5 жыл бұрын
'Wildlife Watching Supplies' hides are high quality but cost about £300. They have a large dome hide which is probably o.k., but the standard one I find the seating position just too low - and I'm not very tall. The ones I use are more like £70 - they are on ebay, amazon - usually as 'pop' up shooting hides. Also check out the chair hides - they look quite useful but you can't really move around in them.
@philipwatson2443
@philipwatson2443 5 жыл бұрын
The problem with the chair hides is that I like to take some low angle shots inbetween normal height shots, so unfortunately I have ruled them out. I have seen some on ebay around £49 so I may try one of them and possibly ask my wife to stitch another low angle view point.

Looks just like the Ameristep Doghouse blind. There are other methods for folding them, I find yours harder to be honest than what it shows on the bag that comes with the blind. Much better than the so called photographers blinds, more room, newer ones like mine (Ameristep Roundhouse as well, just newer model) have the darkened interior so you are not seen moving which helps a lot. This shows the method I use. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWGynYqepqxmaJY I do find pushing against a tree helps.
