Those are hay pellets and they do work especially if you are able to feed 3+ times a day. The more you can break up the feed times, the better. Ex. I feed 8lbs to my TB and break it up to 3 feedings added soaked hay pellets , I use the alfalfa/orchard pellets because the alfalfa never fails to attract a picky eater. You can basically feed as much soaked hay pellets as you want, I’ve personally never had a horse colic from too much soaked hay pellets or too much hay. Once my horse was up to the 8 pounds of at least 12% fat -14% fat I use ProForce Fuel, ProForce Senior has higher fat both have been awesome for putting weight on and improving the overall health of my horse . I’ve also used this same feed routine on senior rescued horses, it works ! It looks like she is basically doing the same here. Plus those extra large rubber bowls are the best feed bowls for a busy, easily distracted TB. The largest rubber bowl catches most all of the feed falling from my horses mouth while he’s busy moving his head all over while eating. Probiotics and the joint supplements are also added to mine as well. Try warm water, it helps to speed up the soaking process. Choke can and does happen with the strangest things, if in doubt, add more warm water it’s better than the risk of a choking horse😊

Thank you so much!!! Awesome video. My horses love it! I just started it. Let me make sure I am reading it correctly - I do not need to throw extra hay correct? This is their hay now or is this just a feed time 2 to 3 times a day?

I’m doing this I soak beet pulp and have him on triple crown senior gold give him a hyaluronic acid supplement animed remission supplement and wheat germ oil I soak it overnight too then hit it with water again before he eats it he gets 3 quarts beet pulp and 3 quart senior feed? He also has 24/7 hay and 45 acres of green grass to graze on all this and I’m 30 days down and I haven’t seen too much of an improvement with his weight his ribs still show he has no hind end muscle I’m doing ground work twice a week I don’t want to push him with a lot of exercise as right now I just want his diet fixed to be as nutritional as possible for him

Great info! What is a replacement of rice bran? Don't have it in my area. And what to do if horse eats everything (a lot of hay, 3kg oats, 1 kg of mix alfalfa pellets+beet pulp) and still not gaining weight? teeth, bloodwork and deworming done and ok. Ulcers?

Sorry I just saw these comments! You really cannot go wrong with a month of omeprazole - I buy at abler.com to save money and it works great and will iron out your ulcer issues. You can also add a half cup of aloe vera juice to the food which is $6.44 a gallon at Wal-Mart in the pharmacy section. Rice bran is the same thing as Max-E-Glo if you have Tractor Supply in your area? I know people have good luck with beet pulp too but my horses have generally not been fans and it takes foreverrrrrr to soak. Those timothy pellets will be mush in five minutes.

Did I search how to use a hose 😛

Sad to say a lot of horse owners seem to look for every option other than using a hose! But exactly what I feed is in the description. It just doesn't work the same dry. I don't know why, I'm not a nutritionist. I just know this works, my 30+ year olds are fat.

Wondering how many pounds of Timothy pellets are in the buckets before soaking, and how much is "a little bit of rice bran?" And how many feeds of this mush per day?

If you have a typical 3 quart plastic scoop, I do 2 scoops twice a day and one scoop at lunch for really hard keepers/no useful teeth (I work up to that, obviously). Rice bran is about 1/6 scoop to every scoop. Horses who can stil eat hay, you can just do one scoop AM and PM and it will help a lot.
