Quick cleans ensure your AR is maintained and gets regular wear inspections. Get into the habit of quick cleans, and you’ll have a reliable AR. For your once or twice a year deep cleans, consider an ultrasonic bath.

Great job Taylor and great personality!! This video just caught my eye so I watched it. I've been cleaning M-16s, GAUs, M4s and ARs since 1967 so I have a little experience. You just made what some people consider drudgery a potentially pleasant experience. Take care and God Bless.

Great little video. Nice close-ups and descriptions. You should be wearing gloves and run a bore snake thru the barrel - very important

Nice. Well done there!

In combat a "quick cleaning" is literally just opening it up and using a brush to knock out the dirt and sand, maybe apply a squirt of lube if someone has it or maybe not. Taking the bolt out or cleaning the barrel usually is not possible in the field but as long as you can get the dirt and sand out, your rifle will function. Carbon isn't as bad as many civilians think, never seen a rifle stop working from carbon build up, dirt and sand however is a rifle killer, got to get that stuff out.

This is very true, but she is showing a quick clean in a non-combat scenario. Both are good to know. Carbon build up will usually only effect a rifle after multiple thousands of rounds. We’ll made parts from good manufacturers these days are amazing. Even my old original S&W AR has never failed once, and it was $500 over a decade ago 👍

Offsetting the gaps in the gas rings is a myth. Not necessary.

I'd like to say ty for your time
@AnUprightAnimal3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. The rings are completely pressed together once they are installed back into the carrier. You can run the bolt with a single gas ring, and it will still run just fine, due to that gap being compressed. It's funny how the experts spread these myths around, even though they have been clearly debunked.

From what I've learned this far the only way to tell if your gas rings need changing is if the bolt collapses under the weight of the carrier when you stand it up: star side down
@AnUprightAnimal3 жыл бұрын
@@progmanmike that's how you test them. Other than that, the orientation of those rings does not matter at all.
@CorneliusFahey3 жыл бұрын
@@progmanmike Yes, what you described is correct. 👍🏻😊 But for proper cycling the gas rings don’t need to be offset.

I actually have been avoiding purchasing an AR sporting rifle because I have no idea how to clean it! Love this video! (:

It’s kind of shocking in a culture shock sense of the term to know grown men don’t know this. It just seems so elementary.

What barrel is in the ar??
@whitespacemarines43083 жыл бұрын
I know this sounds like total common sense, but when you released the bolt, you should have talked about that step. Just saying.,...there are a lot of NEW gun owners out there now (Thank God,...lol).
