I Always use a pair of small scissors and cut the plastic and slide the straps out. Easier buddy

When out competing, you likely don’t have the best water supply. Any water you use can end up on the lettuce and transfer to the food. So using a bottle or clean water source to ensure there are no unknown or unwanted flavors being accidentally introduced is super important. Bottled water is always a safe choice accordingly.
