I would personally add a black basecoat before the drybrush just because if you screw up the details then you can fix them up. Other than that I love the subtle drybrush.

How on earth do you guys get your primer to sit so well... I find if I use to much it ruins the detail and if I don’t use enough it tacks onto the mini with a rough finish and sandy filling. This finish looks clean and smooth, and I just can’t seem to find the best way to do it. Does the citadel black primer sit different than the one from army painter?

Priming in my experience is about distance and quick sprays. Keeping it at arm's length and then running quickly to not overcoat them. Afterwards use a similar base paint to cover any spots you missed
