Sam - Atom : I wanted to let you know that all of Sam's other videos were not helpful and too long. This video was perfect. The simple way you presented wetting blending has me now adding it to my to do list of things to try on my next experimental model. Always thought it was something out of reach, or too time consuming for my level. You have proved me wrong. The length of the video is spot on. The camera angle with the pallet in the ground was great. I am looking forward to seeing more of Sam's videos in this format.

Yeah ? Let's make them work harder. Maybe it's so because does it really matter, everybody uses their own brushes and pigments that work for them. Plus these videos are FREE let's just be happy with that. Keep on keeping on Mr Lenz .
@link_71646 жыл бұрын
X.david Williams Yeah I agree. What’s with these guys wanting to try those brushes and see if they work for them? Just enjoy the video for what it is. Don’t let them know what would make you enjoy the channel more or what would make you subscribe. Brush list? Personally, I don’t even think you should be able to see the brushes, paints or the miniature in the video. Audio is unnecessary too.

Awesome video. Is it difficult to use the wet blend technique on a base with much texture?
@bobbirdsong68257 жыл бұрын
Shaolink The wetter, the easier it is, but you can lose some of the detail. Just make sure that it is even.
@olehlutsenko7 жыл бұрын
Amazing tutorial. Looking forward for the next one. Because based on the final result it is seem to show me how I can make those skeletons stand out, like with eyes glowing effect. My only question - is it possible to provide conversion table for paints, because I own only Citadel ones, like many people here I assume, so it will be even more helpful! Thank again for the tutorial!
@rustedbeetle7 жыл бұрын
Prior to painting the test base, the base looks like it was misted with white, possibly with primer. Was this to break the surface tension of the base for the paint blending? Or was there another reason?
@tabletopminions7 жыл бұрын
+rustedbeetle It was a white primer. Sam believes (as I do) that you always need to prime whatever you’re going to paint. I know some folks will paint on a bare model, but we don’t suggest it. Thanks for watching!
@rustedbeetle7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the clarification. Since it wasn't an even coat, I couldn't tell if coat was intentionally uneven to give more depth to the paint layer or if it was just a quick spray.
@adrianwarner86867 жыл бұрын
A really light dusting is enough to help the adhesion. With that texture and with how Sam was doing the light from the front of the base, spraying at an angle from the front will help bring out the texture. Kind of like doing zenithal priming. Pretty sure Atom did a vid on that a while back.
@klakhouse7 жыл бұрын
it looks like a basic zenithal prime job.

Any issues gluing the figure to the base after it's painted then? I know these guys have pegs, but what about regular figures, is just CA glue ok?
@tabletopminions7 жыл бұрын
If you're going to glue the models on to the bases after you've painted the bases, it's best to try to scrape some paint off the base where the feet with touch. A plastic-to-plastic bond is best for CA glue. Thanks for watching!

I'm super new to miniature painting so I was wondering if there's a specific reason why sam and a couple of other pro painters I've seen don't use the citadel paints? Is it personal preference or is the citadel lower quality or something?
@tabletopminions7 жыл бұрын
+Lazorz210 He uses a few of the Citadel paints in some of the upcoming videos. He just mostly uses P3 paints because of personal preference and because Privateer Press gave him a ton of paints after he won the P3 Grandmaster contest at Gen Con a few years ago. Thanks for watching!

Citadel paints are fine quality. They are slightly more expensive than many other lines, but there is definitely nothing wrong with them.

hmm, after browsing the webstore, there is actually a ton of Brown bases. Interesting !
@tabletopminions7 жыл бұрын
+Malev Da Shinobi I thought the same thing, but if you go look at the newest releases on the GW site (other than Necromunda) they’re all brown or grey rims on the bases. Thanks for watching!
@SPACENOMADMALEV7 жыл бұрын
Yeah that was exactly my experience! It's oddly enough because I've mostly been in the WD's and interested in the Necromunda Releases like crazy it colored my vision. It seems like whomever is painting the specialist games chooses to do the black rim bases. But if it's coming from the GW studio teams it's certainly brown/grey. Really neat actually !
