In this video I show you how I raised 2 manholes using a precast concrete chamber. The chambers measuring 600mm x 450mm x 300mm Marshalls! The bricks forming the manhole were all loose and therefore had to be removed by chopping out.. I had to do the same on the second manhole too. The first manhole had what you call a concrete biscuit which is used to cap a manhole chamber and provide a base for regulating brickwork or a precast concrete chamber like I used but the second manhole was different, it was brickwork only. The precast concrete chambers were bedded down on some stiff mortar, I used a 3-1 mix for that nice and strong.. the frame was bedded with the same mix of mortar & the precast concrete chambers were also surrounded in concrete on the outside. Using a precast concrete chamber allowed me to do away with any 9inch brickwork therefore making the the whole process of raising the manholes really quick.
Tip: when your bedding down the frame/lid use 2 lines across to get the perfect result.
