About a bonus tip, we do the undersuit expanding procedure before begin a dive. Close a dump valve on a dry suit, inflate it, lay down in a water and shake with hands and legs stretching a undersuit. open a dump valve and slowly stand a verticaly in water.

This is the best valve drill assistance video I've seen. Great job. Here's a related tip for the single tank reach. Angle the tank valve 45 degrees toward you. You may need a reg with a turret for this though.

Until this moment, I have seen the twinset valve drill as a form of torture. Now I can't wait to master it. Thank you for the great video and for explaining simple, obvious things I never thought of.

Excellent presentation and great use of Woody and the rod to illustrate how your position affects your reach. I am a technical diving instructor and I am going to use your rod idea to help my students. Thank you for sharing.

This was brilliant - many thanks. Newbie to twin set diving and struggling with buoyancy and trim BADLY but your advice has added immensley to my understanding. I've pretty much reset my kit back to where it was originally now rather than move the tanks down my back further. My first dive felt top heavy (I was "nodding" assumed it was the valve manifold weight) but I needed to add air to the wing.... moved the tanks down my back and now can't reach the valves as well as the suit squeeze problem at the shoulders (I'm very flexible at the shoulders normally) which you've brilliantly solved by the shrug move in the water. I've tightened the straps back up and made sure the D-rings are almost at the top to make sure they don't impinge the joint.... just hope I can get the twin set on and off now ! Really great though, thanks for taking the time to help us all :)

Great video Ben, 1 of my team mates just ordered his twin-set. I absolutely love the videos you do for our calendars and lessons. Keep up the great work! Cant wait to meet you at the skills camp in San Diego. On another note, I actually reach almost 6 cm further with my elbow pointing to the side. After the exercises that you showed the difference is even greater, (closer to 8 cm).

I've been trying to reach my valves for a while. I recently started laying on the floor in front of a mirror, so I could see what I was doing. I'm able to reach on the floor, but doing it in the water is so much harder.

Excellent video.Would side mount diving be better than back plate diving if your flexibility is poor?
@UTD_ScubaDiving
@UTD_ScubaDiving 2 жыл бұрын
Well in my experience, when people say they have poor flexibility is mostly the technique that is lacking and not the flexibility. I would say if you can stand up straight and look straight ahead or 45dgr upwards and put your hand between the tops of your shoulder blades you should be good to go. If this is not possible, then yes SM might be an option.

I’m struggling to reach the valves because of my shoulder mobility. Not even with my fingertips
