There is also a key for right side wrong side for the paper pattern pieces and a different one for the fabric. That one got me!

Hi. The pattern i'm using (Butterick 6465) uses contrast fabric and has a separate layout for those pieces and some of them are hanging over the edge of the folded fabric. There doesn't seem to be any specific instructions for that part so do I just cut the other pieces out first and then unfold the fabric to cut out the ones hanging over? Thank you for any help.

yes, they're telling you to cut out the other pieces and then unfold the fabric and cut the remaining ones that show hanging off the fabric. It is confusing but you got it figured out! :) You can also look on the actual pattern piece and it'll say "cut 1" or "cut 2" and that also gives you a hint.

Tell me something dear is it possible some pattern compagnie are easier to work with then others ? If so with one would you suggest for beginners please?

Most beginners have trouble understanding the written directions and, unfortunately, this just takes practice. Out of all the commercial patterns, I think kwik sew might be slightly easier for beginners than the others...but that's just my opinion.
