I'm from Poland so for me reading in Czech is quite simple but listening you is pure pleasure.

Thank you for a compliment! :) We've just watched 1670 in original (with subtitles), what a beautiful language you have there in Poland! (It's a really funny series too).

Ladislav, this video is of great quality. This is the video form of most utility. No much dynamic, music, you even made your camera black and white to put focus on the paper. Your speech both in English and Czech is so clear to understand and you truly made basic pronunciation simple and that can easily be learned.

I’m a 3rd generation American from Bohemian immigrants. I was hoping Czech would be easy after reading the comments. Ne! Vowels I understand but ch, c, & j not so easy. I’ll have to memorize those sounds and practice. Thank you for sharing your time teaching beginners the Czech language.

I think "Kamarád" is very similar to Brazilian Portuguese "Camarada" that means the word for "friend".
@ladislavmasopust9017 Жыл бұрын
Interesting, etymological dictionary says that it came from Spanish through French. So that makes sense that in Portuguese would be also a similar word. I never thought of "kamarád" as a loanword. :) Although, English "comrade" has somewhat similar meaning too so that would suggest that it's an imported word.

@ladislavmasopust9017 Жыл бұрын
There are many dialects in the Czech language, but you could sort them out into 3 main groups. Bohemian, Moravian and Silesian. So it's not a language but people from the whole western part of Czechia including Prague speak Bohemian dialects.

"Reading is very simple in Czech" Ahh yes, and "strč prst skrz krk" is famously very simple to read, you just have to invent the sound of the nonexistent vowels in your mind as you read it...
@ladislavmasopust90178 ай бұрын
Yes, spelling and reading in Czech can be really easy when you realize that most of the words look like their phonetic transcriptions when written down :)
