@@thirst4knowledge124 well i guess practice...coz being a med student means reading huge amount of text..that takes time...because comprehension is important...texts are very complex. this fast reading thing is good for fiction...where comprehension is lot easier...i simply enjoyed reading...n speed was never the focus.....being concious of it is actually counterproductive....just forget the world n submerge yourself in the text my friend n time will fly...n the book will get finished... Of course there were no devices then...for better i think!

The example at 6:48 is an amazing demonstration of how habits always feel uncomfortable when you try to change them. Naturally I have my left thumb on top, and it feels like my palms are directly together, but when I put my right thumb on top, it feels like there is an uncomfortable amount of space between my palms but the separation is the same both times. It really shows what you mean by how changing habits is uncomfortable in such a simple, easy way that can be done practically anywhere. Nice work on choosing an example that really works with what you’re talking about. I’ve subscribed and turned on notifications as I can foresee your lessons being useful for me in my upcoming college years. I sense a strong passion for teaching coming from you and that clearly can be seen from the effort you put into making these videos in an effort to teach, not to gain popularity or money, but to teach.

I'm usually intimidated by these type of videos, but your videos are always so welcoming and thoughtful. I like that you're taking the time to clearly go through the info and have a concise review at the end to help us remember the main points. The explanations behind them make sense, too (like the demonstration on how new habits take time). I tend to read the words out loud in my head whenever I read because I thought they would help me understand better (they didn't). After watching this video, I tried it out on a novel, and it was amazing how much faster I could read. Thanks!

You may want to simply try timing yourself, before and after, using the tool I provided in the description. You may surprise yourself. Seems to me that since you are very self-aware, it may be easy for you to overcome your perceived obstacle. BTW, I don't recommend speed reading for textbooks, as the goals there are different. Use it for articles, white papers, stories, novels, self help books and so on.

How do I use the same techniques with dense text books or material and concepts that I am not quite familiar with? How do I blend the absorption techniques with speed reading. Thanks. Luke
@BeSmarterFaster3 жыл бұрын
Hello Luke. Thanks for your excellent question. I do not recommend speed reading dense text or material with concepts you're not familiar with. Yes, you can read faster, but comprehension is far more important with certain topics. Speed reading is great for novels, stories, biographies, news reports and such. To improve comprehension and retention with difficult material, take hand-written notes on index cards as you go then use the cards to quiz yourself. You'll see more about that in my videos on Recall What You Study and Cramming For Exams.

Sir, could you please make a video on how to study in noisy conditions. Your videos have really helped me so far. Where I live, I can't really avoid the noise. It would be really helpful if you could help me out.
