Reading books literally saved and changed my life. After a decade of traumatic life experiences starting with the death of my son, 2 failed businesses, 100k in debt, foreclosure of our home, divorce, rape, narcissist second husband and second divorce all to end in jail in London I turned to books to save me. They taught me about mindset and thinking and creation of outcomes and circumstances and healing. I now read 1 book a week because everything I know is from life experience and good books.

I've started reading regurlarly this year but it was so hard to start! It got so much easier when I realized it was so relaxing and relieving compared to social media. I feel so much less anxious Pro tip: if you feel like it'll motivate you, goodreads is a good way to keep accountability and it is very satisfying to keep a record 😂❤

I feel like reading is a firmware update for your brain. Everytime you read some new concepts or a new way to look at things, your brain literally gets rewired. Reinforcing the new connections with action permanently changes the way you operate. When I don't read for a while, I get so anxious that I am missing out on the latest update and becoming slower & dumber. Keeps me in line.
@morganclark37034 жыл бұрын
well said. definitely relate to this. I get anxious and pent-up if im not stimulating my brain with challenging reads/engaging with new concepts. Reading outside of school has brought a lot of meaning to my life

i’ve been watching your channel for a few days now and I’ve been burning through your videos. you’ve helped me be more productive, but you’re also relatable and honest. i’m usually an avid reader, but sometimes i fall into a slump and, as a result, beat myself up about it. i really like your system to goals scheme. i’m going to start using it. thank you. ☺️🤍

as a kid i used to be such an avid reader, i would literally eat book after book. my favorite thing to read were series with tons of books because i loved reading them one after the other. during my last few years of teenhood i kinda lost the hobby, almost feeling like reading books was a waste of time (when you read you cant do other stuff, which is ironically the same reason why i don't play videogames as much as i used despite the fact i love both activities) and didn't really help my already lacking productivity (yes, i'm a professional procrastinator trying but i'm trying to lose the habit). i tried audiobooks but it really isn't for me, i can't get into the story when i listen to it, i like to be able to read it and get into it. i'm hoping watching your video will motivate me into reading again because it's something that i miss but never came around to do and hopefully i'll reach my goal of reading al least 10 book this year!
@megjones45204 жыл бұрын
I was in the same situation last year, I also aimed to read 10 books, I managed to read one and start a second one. Don't put too much pressure on yourself by setting a goal, start small, like 15mins or 20 pages a day :)

I love reading and I do try to read every day. I find that I go through phases of either reading a lot or struggling to get into a book. I found that reading multiple books can help me when I get stuck as it gives me options where I’ll probably find something to get my attention. Although at the moment I’m currently on my 18 book of the year which is a lot for me, but lately I think I’m using reading as a form of escapism as I am struggling with a lot of things and am using getting caught up in a good book as a way of getting away from all of it.

I used to be a super avid physical book reader, but I've been slacking off because I've been prioritizing investing, work, and other projects. I discovered that I can be more consistent listening to audio books on my way to and from work, and while cooking/cleaning. I've been able to finish at least a book a week that way, but I can't quite appreciate it as much as a physical copy. I love how your video points out the importance of reading! It's changed my life for the better.

Reading for entertainment, I am discovering that I like audiobooks. However, for the learning, self-help, I prefer reading the words, either kindle or physical book, (that doesn't make a difference to me) because I like to highlight or write notes. However, the game-changer was listening and reading at the same time - I feel like I absorb the information so much better! and it forces me to slow down. sometimes I read more quickly than I want to and start skipping words or lines.

Hi Rowena! I don't know if u remember but i came to this video sometime in oct 2020 and commented that I will apply these tips to my studies and come back to share my experiance. Now its june 2022 and I am back! I didn't forget the challenge it just took a long time to change my habits and perspective. I used to be afraid and not confident.I have recently understood that I should have faith in myself ,do my best and take breaks from time to time. I know I will do sth good and meaningful in my life and some greater force is watching out for me. This shift has changed my life. My dream was to be independent and march to the beat of my drum no matter what anyone else says. I am no longer waiting for it to come true, I try to live my dream everyday. Thank you di for cheering for me and making videos on such topics Lots of love💕
