loved the take on leisure: “freedom from the work needed to survive, freedom for intellectual or creative pursuits”. i never thought of it in that way. but completely agree that how we spend our free time is the truest reflection of who we are. but also puts so much pressure on us, especially at times like this... great reminder nonetheless.

This is why I love Rowena and her content. I started following her and watching her content 5 years ago. And while I learned so much from her then, I would constantly find myself in a slump and swim in my pool of excuses, down to my late 20s. Now approaching my 30s in a few months, wanting to unstuck myself from my rut, I've been rewatching these, every single one of her videos to unpotato myself. Why I love Rowena, is because her personality, her growth is such an inspiration and her story is an encouragement. Her content more than anything is so relevant no matter how old you are or how your wasteful youth had beaten you up.

I’ve been spending my time doing work from home. Reading and listening to books. Skincare (obviously!) and taking deep breaths. Inhale...hold 3 seconds...exhale...relax your shoulders. 😊 I think this is the perfect time for mental health and meditation for humanity. To just calm down, relax and concentrate on ourselves. 🙏🏼

I really needed this video! It’s my first year of university and I just got an email that we’re officially closing down and switching to online. Although I know that I’m very privileged in that I can switch to online classes, and that I currently don’t have to worry about my financial situation as I can work online as well, I’m still very anxious about the situation as we’re only three weeks in and I struggle with loneliness due to depression and anxiety. This video was a nice break from my anxieties and a way to refocus and try to plan as best as I can during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone, stay safe and look after one another where possible 💕

Shoefridge omg this is me rn! I feel helpless but I know I’m priveleged and better off than most. So much of defeating my anxiety/lonliness is being able to get out of the house and it feels like the universe said “just u wait bitch lmao” but it’s not affecting me as bad as it could but I feel so bad for everyone else

Thanks Rowena for being the reminder for me to get back to my systems. I used to try so hard to reach my goals and was always frustrated when I didn’t, so then I couldn’t really emotionally detach myself from “past failures.” Now, I understand that if I want something done, something as simple as fitness or self-education, I need to get it done along with aligning myself to a more organized daily schedule. I love how I fell to the habit of creating a daily schedule for myself to help keep track of my time, successes, and improvements (I don’t call them failures anymore, only improvements I need to make). Lately I’ve been kind of lazy, but I’m getting back to getting more at-home work done (I’m creating websites for a customer). And I’m not so mentally burnt out anymore, because I was trying to cram 10 hours/day to get it done sooner. I think I just needed to relax and realign my thoughts. Thanks for being an awesome potato!!!

beyond my squeals when i saw your koya socks and the fact that i'm currently reading steve jobs by walter isaacson (and loving it!!) i just want to say that i love your focus on constantly learning and thriving for better for ourselves, and that not necessarily linked to income, career moves, etc. sometimes knowledge is good to have just for the sake of knowledge. knowing ourselves is hard enough and takes a lifetime imo, but improving ourselves at the same time is another story. i'm glad you're bringing these ideas to a platform of younger people (like younger than the dalai lama). i think our generation could do with a big unplugging but content like yours keeps me hopeful that we won't be so bad and we'll learn to do better for the world and the planet we live on. wow that got real deep real quick. love you rowena!!!

Loved the tip on leisure! In Italian it is actually called "ozio": this word actually comes from the latin term "otium" that was the time dedicated to studying (opposed to working and the word "negotium"). BTW really needed that remainder, plus sometimes I actually forget that non all people study latin and know the meaning behind certain words!
