I refer to Kurzgesagt as a single person in this video. I have since learned that the channel is more of a team, who consult experts for each video. Which makes sense given how high quality the information was!

This makes a lot of sense. I’ve had a big interest in psychology since high school, and though I can’t pretend I’m in the know at a professional capacity, I do seem to have a pretty good radar for quality of information in the field (probably why I’ve become a big fan of this channel and lauded it at any chance since ;) ). Kurzgesagt always seemed reliable and well-informed in every video I ever watched. Their habit change video actually helped kick into action a lot of things I had learned separately before finding their channel and was one of several primary catalysts in a massive period of positive change for me. I need to make some time to catch up on their videos. Cool to find you’ve done a video about them. A quality channel discussing a quality channel.

kurzgesagt is a team instead of one person, the person who writes this is a science communicator phillipp dettmer and the team talks to many different experts in the topics of the video and they take care to mention this after each episode

The fact that Pete doesn't realize Kurzgesagt is basically like German PBS with teams of professional script writers is kind of adorable, but also calls into question his entire ability to understand the world as if he thinks one person could create all this expert content he has no idea how to model the capabilities of humans.
@EragonShadeslayer Жыл бұрын
He doubted it would be good *because* he didn’t think that a single person would be able to make expert stuff. Also, he may have thought that there were separate people delegated to editing and animation and stuff like that, but not with the scripting process (including getting good information). That’s how a lot of popular channels are run, after all, it’s also part of why a lot of popular channels don’t have the same quality as Kurzgesagt

It's not the equivalent of PBS. It's not a public broadcasting station, it's a private company. In fact, it's only a KZbin channel. It's a great channel, but just that.

Honestly was a little turned off when I read the title, as it seems to come off as a little combative; and especially when the subject is a channel as beloved and well-researched as Kurzgesagt, I was very tempted to just ignore the video as click-bait. I'm glad that I went through and watched anyways, as your commentary and additional information simply broadened my understanding of the topic and made me want to come back for more of your insights on topics such as these. You just earned another subscriber, and I'm hoping that my like and comment will get your content recommended to the algorithm.

Hey Pete! Thanks a lot for your content! I really like your channel and have learned a lot with it. I know it is possible to adapt the content on creating good habits to understand how to change bad habits but it is still not clear to me. Do you have any content/book suggestion/etc on how to break bad habits?

maybe you can try building a habit yourself and capture that journey and explain what you exactly did in context to behavioral sci..... i think it will be really interesting too.

I don't think Kurzgesagt missed the exclusivity when pairing behaviours, they say "only listening to your favorite podcast while working out".

With the way you're talking about kurzgesagt, it sounds like you didn't do any research on the channel/it's background, which makes it hard for me to want to take this video seriously. It's a team of people who do a lot of research and provide sources to everything they do. They also consult with different experts based on the topic they're covering. Although that doesn't mean they're right about everything, at least they do their due diligence.
@PeteJudo12 жыл бұрын

Before I even watch beyond 0:49 I want to say: I really hate many of Kurzgesagt's animations. It often shows processes as if a child were animating a thing based on a single-sentence conceptual summary of a thing, instead of how that thing might have actually been accomplished in real life, in the lab. E.g. showing the birds do nuclear fusion under a glass pastry dome. This specific example may seem nitpicky, but there are other cases I can't recall offhand that are egregious in there lack of factuality.
