How to get a job. 1.) Show up every morning right when the business opens and not one minute later. 2.) Ask for an application 3.) Make 100 copies 4.) Show up every morning when the Business opens turn one in 5.) Eventually they will tell you to stop or they are not hiring, show up the next day same thing no matter what they say 6.) Eventually the manager will either get tired of seeing you and hire you, or he will realize your on time everyday and he mine as well start paying you. This is how I got my first job. You got to be hungry in this market!!!!

memback01 online job applications are easy for you and easy for the employer to look right past you at someone else who looks better on paper. Face time is important. Get into a potential employer's place of business and talk to the other employees. Talk to their HR people. Don't be a pest, but do be persistent. That persistence alone pays off much better than hundreds of online applications while siting at home.

Hey man, I'm truly happy for you. And your method really paid off for you. Unfortunately some people don't get what you already are aware of. You have nothing to lose and quite a bit to gain, by simply trying hard at whatever endeavor one is seeking. Good for you man.

Great video. People should also remember they can create services and sell them. Repair things, deliver things, create your own job. Get out there and sell your self and service. I started a framing crew when I was 17 and now I own my own design-build company. I created that for myself. I didn't wait for someone to create a job for me. Anyone can do this. I did invest in my future when I was young though. I attended a building trades school in high school. So investing in your future when you are young is important.

Right on Nutn! I have finally put myself in the position where I have started a successful business (in a recession no less) and can afford a few nice things in life. On the way to this point I have mucked out duck ponds, shoveled crap at a sewage treatment plant, cut wood, served fast food, cleaned bathrooms, cleaned up construction debris, counted traffic, mowed lawns, worked 36 hours straight more times than I can count, worked 6 days a week on the road for 7 years, bought and renovated a beat up house so we did not have to rent any more, and countless other tough tasks. I am from a poor family with no rich uncles lurking anywhere, I made my own luck and I never, ever, even for a moment considered letting anyone else provide for me and my family. Now I am 42 and I can tell my kids exactly the same thing you just said. The path to success is hard and it is almost never in a straight line. One thing that you get from working hard that no one can take away is honor and the self esteem that comes from being the kind of person that gets things done and that is something that sells itself.

Nutn, I was working in fast food just over a year ago. Currently I am working in clerical accounting but my goal for a long time has been to become a police officer. I have been struggling to give 110% in pursuit of this dream - this is no longer the case! As a man of faith I am convinced that my watching your video was not a coincidence - nor the fact that you used such "arbitrary" examples to solidify my conviction. You are continuing to do the world a great service despite your personal hardships. God bless you, sir. Get well soon, Nutn (and Mrs. Nutnfancy!)

Sometimes most senior employees (most experienced) are cut first because they are more expensive to keep employed (higher base salary). Some companies would rather replace them with newbies who have lower hourly rates.
@charlieakers2193
@charlieakers2193 11 жыл бұрын
That largely depends on the industry, if the skill sets of their senior employees are not easily obtained by the job force, then they will retain them. If what they do can be done by cheaper labor force, then that's what they will do.

I remember posting a comment to this video back in early 2014 stating how it's always been a dream of mine to become a Police Officer. I first saw this video over a year ago and stated that was what I was going to do. At the time I was working the nightshift as a Security Manager studying and training for the extrance and PT exam. The day I was accepted into the Police Academy was one of the greatest days of my life! Through hardwork and extreme determination I graduated the academy and became a Georgia Post certified Police Officer with one of the toughest Academys in the US. The greatest and most proud day of my life. What you said in this video was so true, "How bad do you want it?". If you want it bad enough you can achieve it!

Good points! I have been unemployed for about a year and a half. I am still able to pay the bills because I got up off my ass and made something happen. I have various skills such as auto mechanic, carpenter etc. I fixed cars, and did handy man jobs. I am also watching other peoples dogs while they are on vacation. Hell, I made $3000,00 over the thanksgiving and Christmas holidays! Only you can decide what works for you. If you apply yourself and focus, you DO NOT need regular Joe Blow employment.

Kevin Burgess The "Poverty Line" is a government term. There are actually people living quite well outside of urban areas that hardly make any money at all. They are self reliant and grow their own food and live off the grid. Forget the mumbo jumbo. As long as you are eating and have a roof over your head then you're getting by. Maybe not wealthy, but definitely not poor because you're not part of the rat race to the top. That is true freedom.

Priorities man! Excellent video. Last year in June I was laid off from my job. I'm employed now, thank goodness, but I was able to get on unemployment. Even though that money was enough to cover all my bills, I still cut all luxuries. All the way down to my streaming Netflix account. It sucked not being able to take part in my hobbies but you've got to take care of the essentials and you don't know when you'll get a job and you don't know how long you'll be able to stay on assistance. I took the extra money and saved it in case. I also love your points on attitude and not being above working a job.

After you get that job and have your bills and obligations paid I have another suggestion about getting that Ar on a budget. Build it. Buy the parts a bit at a time. It might take several months or even over a year to get it done but you won't break the bank and you'll be able to choose the parts you want to build the best Ar you can. Win / Win. Delayed gratification has it's benefits.

Sorry to say, but I have worked at a business where some one like your son (who works hard and does any job) gets passed over again and again. Why? They are looked at as lower than the guys not scrubbing the toilets, etc. The douches who refuse to do so somehow preserve their facade of self importance despite lack of work. Work forces are not based on "work" 90% of the. Most times its political and you need to learn how to navigate that environment while providing quality work to compliment it. Scrubbing toilets etc will actually harm you long run in most work conditions.

If any one aspect of this video stays with a person. It should be how Nutn emphasized the word "Opportunity." Too many people today, feel they're owed something. Opposed to taking a situation and making the best of it. And never losing sight on what you want to achieve. When I told my parents I wanted to be a doctor, a surgeon to be more precise. My Dad, said he would keep his promise. And put me thru college. However, he mentioned he couldn't afford medical school. Or when I was in residency. I still never gave up my hopes and never let money dissuade me from the direction I wanted to head in. I got loans, a few hundred thousand in loans and made it thru a very competitive medical school (Harvard). And then proceeded to sacrifice all my twenties to accomplish my goals and dreams. It was tough at times, seeing my friends with decent jobs. And enjoying their free time. Whereas, I was constantly studying, or part time work. In an effort to get out of medical school. My residency was old school compared to today. Today there's rules for residents. Such as can't work more than 16 hour days and no more than 80 hrs per 7 days. Residency was difficult. I had no life outside of work and learning my craft. Sure I was paid a decent wage to live on. However, I was perpetually at the hospital. Not complaining here, because I always wanted to be a physician and truly help people. I figured I would have enough time to party, and make a personal life. Which I have done. I now have a great and understanding wife. And two kids. But I never gave up on helping people. Maybe it's in my nature...I don't know. However, I sincerely, love what I do and can't believe I get paid to do it too. Respectfully, Dr. Rick S.

GREAT story Dr Rick, thanks for telling it to us. Reading it I'm here nodding my head understandingly. I know what it's like to be in the drab no-fun, studying existence with seemingly no light at the end of the tunnel. But see you understand the concept of sacrificing something good for something better. Many don't. They are only appreciative of the here and now, unable to envision a more satisfying existence for themselves and more importantly work and persevere to the end to get. They get caught in the workaday poor paying blue collar life and never extract themselves from it. You did and stand as an example of the process.

nutnfancy Hey Nutn, I first of all wanted to thank you for personally acknowledging my aforementioned comment. I know you're busy with work, producing these great vids...we all love so much. As well as, Mrs. Fancy. I might add that a lot of people look up to you. Me included. And I'm not some young buck (47 yrs old) anymore. Many of us admire what you're doing with the "Project." And many us know you're quite humble, honest and sincere to name a few adjectives when describing you. That being said, TNPer's worldwide are standing by you and supporting you. As well as wishing you, Mrs. Fancy, Doodle and Last Suspect, nothing but the best in all your endeavors, adventures and subsequent hurdles the family is currently enduring. Remember, your fan base is behind you and Mrs. Fancy. If there's is anything I can do to assist you and Mrs. Fancy regarding her medical condition. Please do not hesitate to contact me. I would be more than happy to provide whatever insight, referrals, or simply answer any question you guys might have. The condition as you're probably aware of now, is quite manageable. And yet it will be a challenge. Nothing the Fancy Clan can't handle. I was first attracted to your honest Gun, Knifes and Kit reviews. I began to check out your other vids. And was happy to see how grounded you are. And how similar we are in many respects. On your WROL medical preparedness video. I left a lengthy comment. In an effort to give some suggestions in how a person could help themselves from a medical stand point. It was you and this video that initially inspired me. To write a long informative comment. Hopefully assisting the TNPer's out there. In a sense, I feel as though TNPer's have this sort of connection. In which we're all striving to better ourselves. TNP, in my humble opinion is a huge "Success." And we have you to thank for that. And Doodle deserves some credit too. My Best Wishes to You ALL, Dr. Rick S.

Confidence is huge. If I'm being honest, I've been "underqualified" for almost every job I've had as a journalist. When I first started, I had no college degree and zero experience. Through confidence in myself as a writer (and LOTS of luck) I got a dumpy little job as a sports stringer at a local weekly newspaper. I was STOKED! Then I went from stringer to writer to columnist to editor for different publications within three years. You just have to believe in yourself, take what you can get and be ready to step up when the next opportunity presents itself.

GREAT TRUTHFUL AND BRUTALLY HONEST VIDEO! Simply put... I tell this to people all the time as a self employed individual and entrepreneur; in life you have to measure THE WANTS VS. THE NEEDS. Great video Nutn. As an LEO, I would like to offer this advice to your audience, especially those who may have ambitions for a career in law enforcement. This may seem obvious, but DON'T GET ARRESTED! The number one reason the average Joe/Jane gets arrested is alcohol. The worst thing that you can do is go to a club, get drunk, and then get into a fight. Worse yet, you are drunk and then decide it would be a good idea to defend your girlfriend's honor. If you like to smoke pot, you need to quit-like yesterday...When you get back grounded, they will ask you if you smoked pot and when was the last time you smoked pot. If your answer is something like "6 months ago", you might as well tattoo DQ on your forehead. This may seem like common sense, but I can't tell you how many candidates are waived because of the reasons I mentioned. You also need to be the BEST driver in the world. If you do get a ticket for a vehicle code violation, TAKE CARE OF IT. Like Nutn said, pay your bills. Poor DMV and credit reports DQ several candidates as well.

Great video. As a Vietnam veteran who has suffered from PTSD and severe depression, and been given the run a round at the VA and no benefits provided, I am realizing that the only way I will come back is from my OWN efforts. I will also add that I was always productive, owned a very successful business, and sold it and worked for major companies as was successful. Then seven years ago PTSD kicked in and everything financially changed. I have been dealing with it spiritually since all the medication did not work. Time to pick it up and start to rebuild. At age 64 it will be a challenge, but I have a many great ideas as to how to do it.

Always look forward to your Philosophy of Life videos. Another great one. Been working since I was 13, and I have never been fired, and only laid off once. The one time I was laid off I was the FNG, and I still questioned my work ethics. I will never be jobless for long if ever, in the future. Sorry to word it this way, but in this world at this time if you can have a pulse and show up on time you can have a job if you try 1% harder than the other leaches. I was a wholesale manager for a large Auto Parts chain a few years ago. I had stacks of job applications. The all got put into a pile and ignored. Yup. That's right, ignored. The positions I needed to fill were entry level, no experience required, jobs. I needed people that wanted to work. To show that they had to bug me, and question me about the position. They had to show effort. 98% of the applicants never called or even checked in. I had a hard time believing that, and I still do.

Woah! Thank you for the insights! I'm current a college student and was trying to apply for internships. I was putting out my resumes but never bother to make any follow up calls because I thought it would make me seem 'desperate'.. I never knew that potential employers actually want you to call! Well, lesson learned! Thank you again :)

7 months back i tried out 14 companies and number 14 decided to give me a weekend job, i worked my butt of at that weekend job and a month later they gave me a 1 year contract, i`m still working there and yesterday i injured my head pretty badly, i finished what i was doing, asked for a bandaid, worked another 5 hours until i was done for the day, drove to the hospital to get me fixed. They told me i shouldn`t work for 3 days but i`m just done working 12 hours and tomorrow i have to wake up at 5:30 to work another 10 hours while i`m only 16 years old. So yes, i consider myself a worker and i`m damn proud of it!

Hey Nutn, Great vid. As a veteran that is about to retire, this is a great resource to watch an keep up the positive attitude! I have a lot on my mind as far as getting a job outside the military and it's good to hear your insight. You sounded kind of like the TAPS instructor and had some of the same tactics to share. Anyhow, keep fighting the good fight! TNPer since 2009!!! Many props to you, and prayers to mrs Nutn. God bless.

Hi NutnFancy, Watched this whole video hoping to be enlightened regarding finding employment. You are totally honest, inspiring, and thoughtful towards others, which I really appreciate. I was laid off and have a wife and three daughters...I have been kind of depressed lately, feeling like I am worthless, but after watching your video, I realized that I want to take your advise and go for it...My reason for writing you is this; you inspired me, and woke me up a bit....Things I already knew but was retold by you as I have worked for 40 years but cannot retire and am seeking employment...Many thanks, Jimmy....I will let you know how I make out.

Sir, I clicked this video hoping to find some untapped market of jobs only you knew about or as you said "magical" way to get a job. Instead I found honest, unbiased truth. Several of the things you shared have already been said to me. However, I believe my eyes were opened because you don't know me, my situation, or my history. This is a formula, and a formula always works the same way every time, when properly executed. I do have a few questions though. First, how do I asses my strengths and weaknesses? I have very low self-esteem, so I see most things about myself as a weakness. Second, how do I find that dream job for me. I don't know what I want to pursue. I just know I don't want to be here. Thank you again sir. I will browsing your other life videos for more of this.

+Sebastian Brown Well said. I'm in the same boat as you. I wish I had something I was passionate about, something I can persue, but I'm just not interested in one thing. I have minor interests but nothing I want to persue for a career. I'm currently 19, grew up without a dad but had a loving mother. As of now, I feel like I lack direction. Must of my life I felt like I have been wandering, excepting what is convenient to me. With no one for me get answer from, I'm getting most my answers from Google... Let me know if you found any solid material to your problem. As of now, i'm trying to get a job, but online or paper applications seem like they go into the void. No response. I have cold called many times... ridiculous. I'm going to keep my hopes up. Hopefully I can land something.

Nuttin I've been watching you a long time. This one hits home as I'm trying to get my own marketing business off the ground. I ask my self every day, was that the best I could do. I grew up in the northwoods of WI and the best was standing in freezing lake water getting the job done. I know I'm stronger than most. I also know that doesn't really matter because it's about getting the job done. Just wanted to say that you give me the strength to fuel my dreams! Keep it up Nuttin!! P.S. I know how to look profesional....most jobs think I'm too much...they don't understand I'm not above anything....I grew up in my family business helping my Dad with the sewer...oddly enough one of my fondest memories...

just throwing this out there...I live in norther british Columbia,near the start of the southern end of the Alaska hiway,im a bush surveyor,i get paid very well to ride atv,utv,snowmobiles,helicopters and spend all day in the woods often in very remote areas, I probably average 75 hrs a week so there is LOTS of overtime,benifits etc....and WE HAVE BEEN HIREING NON STOP FOR MANY YEARS!!! as have MANY other local,oilfield related employers.they beg for people up here and its a great area,beautiful, yet its so hard to find any help with or without experience. sometimes being gainfully employed is as simple as moveing to a different area.

Main advice I can give through my short experience as someone who has been hired, and hired others.. Humanize the process.. If the employer likes you, and you have nearly all the qualifications, he will hire you. Go in, grab an application, and have a conversation about him. Pretend like you like the business, pretend like you're interested in the trade, and hell if you have to, pretend like you like his shoes.. Give him a reason for him to like you as a person, and you improve your odds 10 fold.
