I watched about 95% of your videos since you started on KZbin and I have to say I think your makeup in this video is the most flattering I've seen on you … gorgeous! Would love for you to do a video on the makeup you used here, and I have seen your other makeup tutorials. Thanks for all the great info over the years!

I truly appreciate the fact that you are willing to do this … but, and this is a big one … I have extreme rosacea and there are several videos where you do your makeup that you start from scratch. This is what I would like to know what exactly what you did prior to your makeup application to achieve the gorgeous finish you do as well as how you apply your makeup and what tools you used. BTW I am allegric to witch hazel, but I can get around that. I'm a victim of my own hormones, so be it. I am 72 (the pic is about a year ago when I was 71). I have always applied my makeup using a sea sponge. I've tried brushes as you've used but always wind up w/the most ridiculous greasy holes in my skin and blotchiness throughout. I do realize there's a huge difference in the "quality" of our skin, but would so appreciate your start to finish application, from washing to heading out the door. If I'm asking too much, just say so … please!

Angie, I have been using the Colorscience Sunforgetable for over a year now and really like it. I particularly like that it comes in different shades because I am really fair and most shades make me look too orange. I have also used foundation with sunscreen such as the IT CC cream and Laneige cushion. I did not know or really think about the possible effects of breathing in the spray on sunscreen when sprayed directly on the face. Thank you so much for that wonderful piece of information as I had just purchased the kit from Sephora about 2 weeks ago and have been slowly trying out the products. I purchased one for my daughter who is 21 and have really tried to educate her about the effects of the sun on our skin. I am 62 and was raised on the beach in Southern CA and have several areas of hyperpigmentation from sun exposure. I am so thankful that young people today are being educated about sunscreen and have so many available. Thank you again for all of the hard work you put into your channel and your intelligent, common sense approach to skin care and makeup. Deborah

HotandFlashy For Japanese I like Canmake and Mommy. Biore and Nivea have good Japanese sunscreens too. For Korean I like Innisfree and Cosrx. There are higher end brands too. There are a few KZbin videos out there that list their favorites. Part of the reason that prices are so much lower in Asia is because more people are into skincare and wearing sunscreen. They also have low brand loyalty and so the best prices for the best quality always win out.

I purchased that sun kit and love alot of products in them. I am 57 and have dry skin. The 2 setting sprays are great. I use them like I would a normal setting spray and feel like I am getting that extra layer of protection. I also carry one in my purse as an easy way to spritz and go. The mists are so fine that I feel that I can get a pretty good layer and then I just pat my face. Does not move make up. I also was surprised how much I like the St. Tropez wash off tanning lotion. If you use it 2 or 3 days in a row, it gives you a nice glow without looking fake. I exfoliate in the shower and then rub this onto the areas I want some color and let it sit for 3 minutes (or more) and then rinse off. So easy! I love your videos Angie and I am a long time subscriber. You turned me on to alot of products especially all of the IT cosmetics goodies!

You probably have saved my face...I say that tongue in cheek because it is already an old overexposed to sun face, but last year I began watching your videos and you single handedly made me aware of how important the use of sunscreen is on a daily basis...summer and winter. My husband tried but I didn't listen...went after the dark tan "healthy" look...LOL! Now, I am addicted. What I appreciate about your videos is the research and honesty you present in every video review and demo. Oh, I am into hats not, too. Love yours...:)

Have you seen Dr Dray's videos on sunscreen? The advice you give on the sun protection being intact as long as the make up is intact I think holds quite true - but only for mineral sunscreens. Chemical sunscreenseach havetheir own photostability and esp. the UV-A filter avobenzone, which in the US often is the only UV-A filter in a product, decomposes quite quickly in the sun. So after two hours, you might still have good UVB protection but little to none UVA protection left. Which of course might protect you from burns, but not photoaging.

Just got back from Caribbean vacation and never wore makeup because of how much sunscreen I needed to apply & re-apply (Neutrogena SPF 100+ Ultra sheer or the Sport 70+ are great for face when swimming/at the beach) But I think you're totally right about not needing to be as diligent during an average work day.

My dermatologist said reapply every 2 hours while out in the sun...not if you are sitting in an office!! That wouldn't make sense. LOL. If you are walking to your car, to your office and then back to your car, you don't need to reapply!! He also said that moisturizer or makeup with SPF is NOT the same as applying sunscreen!! Just repeating what you said, but this comes from a dermatologist. Clinique City Block is really good too!!
@Corn22

Melissa Geittmann actually walking to your car and back would still expose you to sunlight and that would build up overtime so why not be safe and just reapply the powder or something over your sunscreen.

Agree totally! I think most dermatologists (including mine) would not recommend to not protect yourself at all time while outside- including walking to the car and back. In fact, mine does recommend being fully protected even while driving around. Speaking for myself, I can get very red while walking to my car, I'm extremely fair (and I've also suffered from skin cancer). What does it hurt to be protected? I don't think it's a laughing matter. Perhaps I'm reading too much into the OP's statement. It seems flippant to me.

This is great-- thank you so much - had no idea about the powder touch up, genius. My face HATES chemical sunscreen (years ago I started using Bare Minerals Foundation - worked great but not so great now with older dry skin). It CC cream with 50+ has been a life saver. Now if I am beaching it, I try to use straight up sun screen with no make up and a GIANT hat (which is not often as I shun the sun as much as posssible). Your previous video gave me so many new mineral ones to try!! YAY!

WOW - lots of comments here. Thank you for all of your thoughts and opinions on this. THAT is what everyone needs to remember here - these are opinions and suggestions (I see people challenging the advice) - I am always so appreciative of the time it takes to share this information with us - and any look that the various u-tubers share. I too am not a "young" person, so I try to be aware - HOWEVER, I am a Jersey Girl through and through and summer means boating, beach and tanning. I know its not good - but the healthy glow of the sun is something I love and will do forever.... Thankfully, I still look years younger than I am (I keep my skin very well moisturized when not in the sun). I do keep my lips well protected when at the beach or on the boat. I have to say I was not aware of sunscreen hats - that is the coolest thing!!!!! I totally love the hat (not sure I need the sunscreen in it - but hey, if that is the way it comes, that is cool) - THANK YOU FOR ALL THE TIME YOU TOOK TO SHARE ALL THIS.

Hi, Angie! Thanks for your video; this should be required viewing. I've long been an advocate for using sunscreen all the time also. Regarding the sprays, I haven't tried the Coola spray, but I have tried the Supergoop! one. I am actually currently using it. Although my eyes are sensitive to chemical sunscreens, the Supergoop! one doesn't bother them at all, and I do spray it over my face like a setting spray to refresh my sunscreen during the day. My main complaint with it is that the spray itself does not mist so much as spurt, so I don't feel like it lays an even coating of sunscreen on my face without me then having to rub it in. It's also very greasy, so I usually wind up following it up with some form of powder (usually with a sunscreen) anyway. I used to use the Peter Thomas Roth powder, but then I switched to cruelty-free products, so I stopped buying it. Do you know if Colorescience is cruelty-free?

Hi Angie, I don't understand how I could have possibly missed this video as I am an avid watcher and fan of your channel. Thank you for pointing out that spray sunscreens are not yet proven to be as effective as creams/serums and some powders although as you stated I wouldn't use a powder as my first line of defense. My dermatologist highly recommends I not use them and as she is the the best in my area. I have and will always follow he mass majority of her suggestions for my skincare. I REALLY love your hat and will be looking for one (or two!) for the upcoming summer months for myself. BTW, it looks wonderful on you. Angie, I so appreciate your videos on Skin protection. I have had 8 moles taken off and biopsied, so I am a firm believer in sunscreen. One silly question: how do you keep your hair from becoming greasy around your neck, ears and shoulders where the sunscreen is? Even if I wear my hair up most of the day, the hair sticks to the sunscreen somehow and becomes greasy! I also really liked your video on mineral sunscreens, as I have recently switched after doing research. However, I still can't find a drugstore toxin free foundation that does not crease over sunscreen...so I've just been going a-natural this summer (sunscreen only) and loving it... it's kind of liberating and my face' flaws are free to be themselves, and so am I :) I think I'll try the phy. formula cushion....I use the organic wear cc cream and like it a lot.

Angie, what an informative video on layering sunscreens! Thank you! Is there also a video on covering "sunspots" granted that they tend to be, in my case, both of hormonal origin but intensified by the sun? I use sunscreen religiously, but the driver side of my face still suffers. I recently bought an unscented sunscreen with SPF 30 in a stick at Whole Foods, so I keep that in my car and have started reapplying it fervently whenever the sun rays are too searing. Still, the brown spots on my left cheek are prominent. So I was wondering what the best brand, color and consistency of concealer is most effective . Thank you.

HI Angie, just now getting the chance to watch this and have a few questions for you. Do you apply a sunscreen under the IT cosmetics cc cream and if so have you had any problems with the two blending nicely? Second, I was in Target a few weeks and was given a sample of Bare Republic Natural Sunscreen and wondered if you had tried it? It's a mineral sunscreen and goes on very nicely with no white cast, which is one of my usual problems with mineral sunscreens.

I am not sure why it is a problem to spray a sunscreen/setting product on your face? Certainly you would close your eyes as with any setting spray. If you have breathing problems you wouldnt want to use any spray I would imagine but other than that what's the issue?

Have you tried the ThinkSport SPF 50? Its a mineral water-resistant sunscreen that rubs in really well & feels great under matifying makeup for my oily skin. They also sell a tinted version in SPF 30 that i like to wear on my non make up days. Also the Kinesys Alcohol-Free Spray Sunscreen Fragrance Free SPF 50 is what i like to apply over make up. Its a chemical sunscreen that goes on oily looking at first, but i gently dab it in with fingertips & it looks great over make up. For lips, Jane Iredale has great mineral SPF Lip balms & tints for men too. They also have a sunscreen powder, which i haven't tried, but am curious to know how that one works. I try to use SPF make up when i can too, but i havent found a vegan foundation that i like yet.

Just a general note -- I hope you read these -- I have enjoyed watching your videos and try to keep up, but it is hard to figure that out from KZbin. There are no episode numbers or dates, so sometimes I have to keep clicking to find the new ones. (Exception -- "empties" are dated.) Is it possible to add dates to the titles?

Hi Diane~ All videos on KZbin are dated, you just need to know where to look... There's a "Published on" date below every video while you're watching. If you're subscribed to my channel KZbin will always show you my most recent video when you click on "my subscriptions" or if you go directly to my channel you'll see my most recent videos at the top followed by my most popular. Hope that helps! Btw, I post a new video every tuesday and friday.

I was doing research on spraying sunscreen on faces, but most of the studies/reviews/commentaries I've read are on the traditional "face & body" sunscreens with sprays that contain propellants. The Supergoop one is not dispensed with propellants. I'm almost your age; I'm more wary of using powders on my face than the alcohol. The alcohol evaporates; the powder stays there. Then again, I don't have super-dry skin. And I'm not a dermatologist, nor an esthetician. Bottom-line: I would rather people use SOME form of sunscreen than none at all.

Agreed. Any sunscreen is better than no sunscreen. The concerns I"ve read were about inhaling titanium dioxide, especially nano-particles. The FDA's been investigating it since 2011 but haven't weighed in on it yet.

I use a product called Heliocare. It has some color but I layer my sunscreen of 50 with the Heliocare, which is also 50. I use it as a primer some days or in addition of another primer.

I've read that even though makeup has sunscreen in it, most people do not apply enough of it to give you the full sunscreen benefits.

Does your face get cakey after reapplying the It Cosmetics CC or the cushion compact during the day? Especially if you’re a person who applies a loose powder to set foundation. 🤔 Thanks for all the great advice! New subbie! 🤗

Do you think wearing the IT CC cream alone is enough protection from the sun?? I ask because you have it listed as a “touch up” option. Thanks!

Good morning! So I have tried the Sunprise Airy Finish SPF50+ PA+++ and love it because of its LIQUIDY consistency (easy to re-apply with the It's my cushion compact) and because it is all mineral sunscreen. When re-applying it really stings my skin. I found out the 4th ingredient is alcohol. Do you have any recommendations for a similar sunscreen that doesn't have alcohol and non-water resistant? (I have dry/sensitive skin and I am using retin A in the evenings).Thank you!

EXCELLENT advice! I was considering the supergroup spray to give my sunscreen a boost later on in the day---after your input, def. NOT going to try. I , too, layer and layer again along with make up with 50spf. How about using the It Cosmetics powder/compact foundation as a 'touch-up'? It has an spf of 50!

Angie, could you please advise about the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunscreen SPF 70 that you've mentioned in your video, does it contain Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide? As Neutrogena doesn't seem to have them listed in the ingredients section? If no, could you, please advise if sunscreens should contain these 2 ingredients, or what to look for in sunscreens as I've got oily skin, looking for something less greasy.

Australia has the worst sunscreens. Very oily! Our formulas are terrible. The American, European and Asian brands are the best. Elta MD SPF is the BEST. Moisturizing but not greasy and dries to a powder touch plus cosmetically elegant. It feels nourishing and great for post procedures like chemical peels

Hi Angie. Do you wear sunscreen on your body daily? I'm wondering if you apply a separate body lotion (I know you like Olay), and then a separate sunscreen. Also, have you done read any research on the efficacy of body lotions with SPF? Does it work as well as layering?
@AngieHotandFlashy
@AngieHotandFlashy 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, I apply both a body lotion and body sunscreen daily. Body sunscreen needs to be reapplied throughout the day for every 2 hours of sun exposure or when swimming or sweating, but it's much easier to reapply on the body than on the face!

Whenever I be used the setting spary sunscreen, if course as a touch up only, I close my eyes and hold my breath for a minute. It dries quick. Kinda of a pain but it works for a quick touch up in the afternoon.

just an idea, but the little sprays at the end could be used on the backs of your hands? I always have to wash or wipe my hands after applying sunscreen as i hate greasy palms. With the sprays you avoid this, however I realise one is a setting spray but I just hate waste.
