OK, the Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 has changed my life! Like you, I cannot do chemical sunscreen. I also hate it when I see a million make-up tutorials, and hardly any have sunscreen as a step. This sunscreen not only protects my face, but it acts as a PORE FILLER for my nose! I swear I hardly have to blot my face during the day! 2-for-1, BABY!

Reporting back with the Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 tinted face lotion. I have dry to sometimes normal skin. I used a bit of serum and emollient lotion underneath to prevent any dryness. The sunscreen itself didn't cause any flaking or dryness for me. I loved the matte look! Definitely less shine than my Paula's Choice SPF for dry skin (that I also find pills if I am too vigorous when I apply it). I loved it! Great price point and still worked (possibly even better) on my dry skin than my more expensive PC sunscreen. Thank you Angie! Holy Grail product *big thumbs up*

Australian Gold is my new holy grail sunscreen. After hearing your review I immediately went to Ulta and purchased it. I tried it on the back of my hand after I got home and am in love with how little notice I take of having it on. I typically don't like the way sunscreen feels but when It gets on my fingertips and palms, it's the worst feeling ever. Australian Gold is basically unnoticeable. Thanks so much for your work.

I bought the Australian Gold Tinted SPF 50 sunscreen that placed #1 in Angie's review. It is amazing under my makeup and I love it! I wanted to let everyone know that while Angie reviewed this more for those of us who wear makeup - my husband loves this as well. He is a ginger with sensitive skin and has trouble finding sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast. The tint in this product counters the white cast and it is undetectable on his skin. Thank you, thank you for recommending this product - I doubt I would have found it without you, Angie! We are thrilled.

Thank you Angie!!!! The number one sunscreen you presented ...I bought it right away and my life has changed 180 degrees. It is AMAZING!!!! For my combination/oily skin - this sunscreen is the answer to my prayers. Thank you. I was lucky to find the last one in Ulta store and they also offer buy 1 get 1 50% off so I purchased the spray version. The smell, the consistency, and the "no residue" feeling works great for me and for my 5-year old running away from greasy sprays. I stocked up online as well. For summer makeup I paired it up with MIRACLE SKIN TRANSFORMER MEDIUM FLUID FINISH FOUNDATION SPF 40 W/BRUSH in the medium shade for my light/medium complexion. It lasted the whole day until I removed it 14 hours later. It did not move, did not shine and looked stunning! Thanks again!!!

Thank you Angie for this VERY important information! I am blonde with blue eyes and I freckle. I spent time in the sun when I was younger and had some nasty burns. Always on vacation I would wear SPF 15, spent just a little time in the sun and still got a slight tan. July 2016 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 malignant melanoma. Weird thing is that it was a TINY dot that my bikini bottoms would cover. This part of my skin NEVER saw the sun. My Dermatologist noticed it was not there last year and thank God he did. They operated, the first time and sent it out to pathology and THAT pathologist was so concerned about it, he sent it to Sloan Kettering (I live in upstate NY). It was Sloan Kettering who diagnosed it stage 3 so I had to have a 2nd operation where they removed POUNDS of flesh on my stomach. So now I go every three months for a check-up. It's very insidious because there is a great % that it WILL come back somewhere on my body. It's SO very important to wear sunscreen and thinking that you are dark skinned won't protect you because the cases of skin cancer in African Americans are going through the roof! BTW, because I RARELY got sun on my face, I have virtually NO wrinkles. I am 47 and people think I am in my early 30's. So, do your face and health some good. 15 minutes walking on a sunny day is ALL the Vitamin D you need, which is important.

Eileen, here are some *HUGS* for you! Thank you so much! Yes, God is good! On the way to the surgeon's I asked God to give me a sign that everything would be ok. As the Dr. was operating, I happened to ask him what his name meant since it was a Hebrew name. He said "In God's Hands". I knew right then and there that God gave me the sign and that everything was going to be ok. I told the surgeon and he looked at me with such disbelief and looked like he saw a ghost! Amazing the signs God can give us when our eyes and ears are open! Sounds crazy right? Well, it wasn't and all Glory to Him that He sent me to this particular Dr who caught that little spot 'that wasn't there last year'! P.S. This Dr. is in his late 70's and knew by SIGHT, without looking at my chart, that the little mole wasn't there, thank God. God bless you!

Thanks..this was so helpful. I've been getting BBL light therapy on my stubborn melasma. The doctor could not emphasize enough the importance of using a sunscreen of at least an SPF of 40 EVERYDAY! I've been using the Elta MD UV Lotion, but am excited to try the Australian Gold. Thanks again!

Angie, how to best remove sunscreen? Do you use your Yes to Coconuts Melting Cleanser and Wonder Cloth?
@michellekelly2937
@michellekelly2937 7 жыл бұрын
NY MSK, You are so right! Some sunscreens are hard to remove! I always start with Cetaphil Cleanser (to remove makeup), then rinse with warm water. I then follow with a Micellar water type cleanser (pour it into my hands and rub it into my skin), and rinse again using a soft cloth. Lastly, I follow with my regular cleanser. The Micellar cleanser is the one that seems to really cut through the sunscreen. I did try an oil cleanser hoping that might cut through the sunscreen, but it did nothing but make my face greasy. I've also tried the Costco Cleansing Cloths, and they seemed to work well, but I don't like using those because they're a disposable cloth. Anyway, this 3 step cleansing seems to work best for me and removes everything in a gentle way. My skin feels perfectly clean when I'm done! A Micellar cleanser is definitely worth a try! P.S. Not all Micellar cleansers are created equal. Some are better than others! Find one that you like!

Gwen I hope you read this. I have melasma and YOU NEED A HIGH ZINC sunscreen. I LOVE Angie and this site but honestly these suncreens are probably NOT enough for someone w/ "real" melasma. It SUCKS I have to use zinc at 16-20%. I use Obagi physical which is 18.75% zinc. It is thick and sometimes makes my make up look like shit BUT my melasma is kept at bay. I WISH I could use something less high zinc which I think would make my makeup look better but it is not worth the risk. Please do your research for your own skin/condition etc. Please look into higher zinc than what is suggested here if you have melasma. I mean this is better than nothing for sure BUT there is better for us w/ tough melasma! It SUCKS!!

wow. the dry touch Neutrogena is my absolute favorite ever. after I let it sit 5 minutes it's totally matte and perfect for my oily skin. I haven't found one better. it's amazing how things are different fir people, I spread all over face let it sit a few seconds and then pat it in and it's Perfect, no white face afterwards. to me it's spf heaven. I read the ingredients of Australia gold sunscreen and saw Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract is pretty high on the list. Some people do have reaction to its fragranced and sensitizing properties. Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract is also phototoxic if it is not extracted properly. I personally have bad reaction with that ingredient in the past so please keep that in mind :( It's so difficult to find a good mineral sunscreen (or sunscreen in general) for sensitive oily acne prone skin

It's an extract though, not an essential oil. So it's less potent maybe? Personally, I'm more hesitant to try it because of the 3 types of silicone!

Ok girls sunscreen is SO important but as it is something that you use everyday and is absorbed by the skin be careful of the ingredients listed. It is not as simple as it may seems! Look up your sunscreen on the EWG’s cosmetic database and always do some research.
@gingerlime1703
@gingerlime1703 7 жыл бұрын
Environmental Working Group provides a big database with all the harmful ingredients that the skinacare products contain based on research. There is a EWG annual guide for sunscreens for the 2016 and i am waiting for the 2017. For examle,Nano Zinc and Titanium dioxide, which are the active ingredients in the mineral sunscreens, can enter the blood stream, but non-nano will not. However, the companies usually use nano because it is less "white" on the skin. And consider that if you use nano sunscreen daily, it enters the blood stream daily!For me this is SCARY. That is what EWG talks about. Thank u for asking Eileen! And you are definitely not ignorant :)
@peterkloostermann
@peterkloostermann 7 жыл бұрын
According all safety reports nano zinc oxide and nano titanium dioxide don't enter the blood stream. Ingredients like Homosalate and Oxybenzone have been detected in blood however.

Despina Nen EWG is a scam. Their database is laughable and doesn't even make sense. Some ingredients they will give a high (bad) score but then it says data gap, meaning not enough info is available. Other ingredients however they will give a low (good) score again with data gaps! They have no idea how to evaluate the safety of ingredients and are surely not relying on appropriate scientific data. For years they had an ingredient called polyparaben listen, but there doesn't exist such an ingredient! Let's also remember that the EWG is a business and have a vested interested in getting people to buy their approved sunscreens instead of the traditional ones.
@gingerlime1703
@gingerlime1703 7 жыл бұрын
I see your point Chris!However, the sefaty of many ingredients is still controversial and because you/we do not understand how they rank the ingredients it doesn't mean they are wrong. Also, i don't find anything bad a company to promote safe skincare products. I would't expect all this research to be done for free. On the otherside, i am very suspicious on the cosmetic industry in general. Do you think everything is so innocent out there? Anyway, if you have an alternative more reliable database in mind please let me know :)

I LOVE the Australia Gold Botanical Sunscreen SPF 50!!! I didn't buy the tinted face version because I made a mistake when ordering, but it was a great mistake, because I am able to mix this VERY white sunscreen with my Estee Lauder Double wear LIGHT foundation that was too dark for my pale skin on it's own and I get the perfect color, it doesn't alter the matte finish, and it looks 1000x better on my skin than the It Cosmetics CC Cream with SPF 50 that I was using. Thank you so much for recommending this sunscreen, it doesn't break me out and the tube is HUGE...I am very happy! :)

Thank you for the suggestions, Angie. I'm really having a hard time forcing myself to wear a higher SPF. My mother taught me to start wearing the old-fashioned Oil of Olay SPF 15 every day since my 20s. I'm now 46, and I think those years (even at that low level of SPF) helped. But now I want a higher SPF and I don't want to look greasy. I'll try the Australian Gold. I'm so glad I found a KZbinr who understands mature skin. You're gorgeous!

That’s so sad about the IT Cosmetics sunscreen! I was about to buy it, so I am glad that I checked your video! You have the best reviews 😊 I have about the same skin type, even though I am going to be 31 tomorrow. And thank you so much for talking about skin cancer awareness! My grandfather had it when I was younger. Fortunately, he survived, and died from another cancer 20 years later. Sunscreen is so important to me, and so are your reviews!!!

I just purchased your #1 rated sunscreen on a hunch just the other day at my grocery store! I looked at the back ingredient list and was amazed by Australian Gold's new product. I was even more amazed and inclined to purchase it, because someone had left a $4.00 off coupon on the shelf. I have been using it everyday (for 4 days now), but I haven't tried it with any base makeup. I look forward to giving it a try with my makeup soon after seeing you testing it out. Wonderful review, I watch every year! Thanks Angie!

I love your reviews!!! Every time a question popped into my head you answered it. Also thanks for including both oily and dry. I’m oily and it is so hard to find good stuff that is all mineral and water resistant. My nieces has Celiac Disease and tries to stay totally away from gluten. My sister and dad are both dry skinned and have had skin cancers removed on their faces. As you can imagine we’ve tried a lot of different things in all those scenarios. So basically we need all the help we can get! I think you covered it all! Thank you, thank you!

2,5 minutes in and I can't stop laughing..... Hahaha! My god, you so funny. :D I only use one sunscreen, why do we need so many actually? I use a Dutch brand SPF from a famous dermatologist here, Dr. Jetske Ultee. Intensely moisturizing. Love her products. On the body I use Australian Gold (with Instant Bronzer) for years. Non-sticky and it gives a lovely healthy sheen/glow, no glitters and not oily. The best! X

Stella Johnson Hi, i'm using the one of Jetske Ultee too. She has a non profit one, which is cheap and fine but the more expensive with anti oxidants is better under foundation. Read her blog (again, because i'm certain you do :) ) and you'll see how much you actually need for good protection, and you'll see it's quite a lot!!! Have a good weekend!
@08Stella

How do you know I don't have "the more expensive" one? And how do you know I don't use a "lot". Haha. I actually have both but I use the more liquid-y one because I already put on the OLAY Daycream (with SPF 30) first. Top it off with the 'Smeer je in' and in 10 minutes I have the most hydrated, relaxed skin to work with as a canvas for make-up. Slightly tacky. Love it!!! x

You need 1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen for your face + neck to get the spf on the label. Most people use 1/2 to 1/4 of that amount so you're changing your spf 30 to an spf 15 or spf 7.

Mad Hippie is my favorite sunscreen. It is one of the ONLY suncreens that never break me out or cause irritation. Every other one I have tried including ones for sensitive skin, break my skin out in rashes or bubbles. But I noticed yours is different. Mine comes in a squeezy tube, yours was in a round pump container. They may have changed the formula since you used it because mine doesn't dry up and flake at all! It is extremely moisturizing, not greasy and it smells like flowers.

I understand Angie cannot use chemical sunscreens, but for her viewers that can... I have had the best luck with Proactivs Oil Free SPF 15 and their new MD line SPF 30.
