You are one of the best for showing maintenance on these bikes. I appreciate there is nothing to buy. I refuse to buy any video package

Thanks! Yeah I'm not selling anything on YT nor do I plan to even try it! 😅

Thank you for sharing Mengy. This video is exactly what I needed in order to clearly understand how to remove my rear wheel to do a tire change. You rock! Keep up the great work.

My buddy and I just changed the rear pad’s Friday, along with the tires, oil and new centranic balancers. Oh ya new luggage rack. Big day of maintenance. Rest for our two week trip. Keep the good videos coming

I have a luggage rack for my Wing, not sure if I want to put it on yet or not.

Thanks for this vid. Needed to clean my rear brakes in an effort to eliminate some brake squeal and this helped a lot.

Glad to help, the rear brakes are pretty easy to replace on the Wing.

Nice job, very enjoyable to watch (without me laying on the ground) 👍 👍

A lift would help, but I don't want to spend the money for one, lol!

I had the same noise when I used EBC sintered pads on my Victory.

Interesting. From now on I'll probably use OEM pads, I liked it quiet better.

When you change your brake pads why don’t you clean the calipers? Take an old tooth brush an dip it in dot 4 brake fluid and brush around the outer surface of the pistons to remove dirt that builds up over time. A light film of grease on those pins is probably a good idea.
@MotoMengy Жыл бұрын
I actually did wipe them off, didn't seem to get that on film though...

Nice job Mengy. Totally agree with star pattern tighten and use of proper torque. Those previous pads look pretty good. You decided right by your standard and that’s ok too. Did you give a little wipe down cleaning while you’re under there? Wheel, exhaust, etc.
@MotoMengy Жыл бұрын
I just wiped the brake rotor, but nah not much else. I need to give the bike a thorough washing and scrubbing anyway.

Mengy, you made the rear brake pad replacement look easy, thanks for the video. What kind of bike lift do you have for taking the rear tire off? Scott

I just put the bike on it's center stand and chock the front wheel, works like a charm!

Thanks Mengy. Did Honda recommend new bolt as well? And I wanted to ask you if you put bike in neutral before turning off? I never have but recently saw it in the manual.
@MotoMengy Жыл бұрын
The service manual doesn't recommend a new bolt for the back pads like it does up front. And yeah I always go into neutral before turning off. Not sure if you actually have to, it's just a habit of mine.

Parking in neutral, is that a good idea? What what if the bike rolls forward a little either by wind or being on a slight hill?

Funny... from 0 minutes to 1:28 your license plate was clearly visible and THEN you decided to cover it up. I still don't understand why folks cover up they're plate. Was nice seeing a video on pad replacement.

I have changed my rear pads without removing the back tire…
@MotoMengy Жыл бұрын
I thought about trying that as it looks like it wouldn't be too bad. The service manual says to remove the tire, but I might try it your way next time because I think I can! 😎

No need to remove that rear tire. It's about a 10 minute job removing the one 8mm bolt and R and R the pads. Great video though.
@MotoMengyАй бұрын
The service manual says to remove the tire so I just followed the directions, but yeah it could probably be done with the tire in place too!

I would like to recommend a nice guy few things for next time. The way you installed the wheel, you are killing your back!!! DCT? park brake on when one stud on the wheel is at 12 o'clock. Sit in the back, each leg goes under the bike, wheel is inside ready to put up, the wheel has to go on an angel. left hand grabs the center wheel, right hand guides the wheel on the top stud only, once up, drop the wheel down and she is in on like butter. Second, strongly recommend to take the caliper off, clean it good with WD-40 Degreaser, BEFORE you remove the pads. Remove the pads and clean the rest with dish soap/water in a spray bottle and fresh water rinse, after. Clean the pin good, and a drop of marine grease/brake caliper grease on the tiny o-ring and you are good.
@MotoMengy Жыл бұрын
I did spray some brake cleaner up into the caliper and wiped it out, didn't seem to be very dirty though oddly enough.

Guess what you didn't have to take the tire off. But still a good video

You have another five grand on those pads at minimum. As EZ as the rear brake job and would just reinstall older pads and save you some Adult beverage money or what ever else you want to spend the savings on. JMHO Nice Job.
@MotoMengy Жыл бұрын
I am saving them, just in case I decide to put them back on when these new ones wear down. They are small so easy to store!

It makes it SO much easier though! Plus the Honda service manual says to remove the tire, so I did. 👍
