As always, very simply presented and well filmed. I really enjoy the modular style with which you have constructed these videos, so that each builds on previous ones, and so someone can be pointed to the various basic how-to videos to tackle larger projects. Again, very well done!

Another fantastic video. Incredibly clear and incredibly concise, that's not an easy trick to pull off, well done.

I also track my car, a Cayman, and rebuild my calipers every 2 years. If you are going to be doing this on a regular basis, I would highly recommend installing caliper studs, rather than replacing the bolts. I had an issue a few years ago where the threads pulled out on one of the bolts holes on the hub. This was due to the wear from repeated disassembly of this interface. Using caliper studs eliminates this concern. These are available for a couple of different suppliers, I think I used the ones from Girodisc, but I believe Tarett also makes them. Great video btw

Thank you for sharing Design911. Porsche does not sell inner and outer caliper seals in the US. I got them through Design911! Super!🙏

I think that you picked up on some really good points. re grease the rubber and caliper with brake grease. lots use brake fluid and that's not correct. also put a rubber washer around the bolt head to help seal the brake hose. paper may get in the system. great video, one of the best, thank you.

Good vid! I am doing my calipers in just a bit. This was very helpful. I would just mention that when placing on the new dust seals be sure they seat properly. Suggestion: Could your title include that your rebuilding a rear 4 piston Porsche caliper? It was shear luck I view your vid. Thank you. And Well Done....👍

Would it not be easier to put the seals on the pistons before installing the pistons 🤔

Tearing down my 986 non-S Brembos currently. Well, trying to at least! Having issues getting the dust seals off. You definitely made it look easy here, but mine are just wanting to tear, not come out. Before I go and mess up a pair of nice calipers, can you give me any direction? That would be greatly appreciated
@RoadandRacetv6 жыл бұрын
The dust seals should pry off with a sharp tool fairly easily. Saying that, if you are rebuilding the caliper why not replace the dust seals too? They stop grit getting into the piston so quite important IMO.
@grantd007grantd6 жыл бұрын
Road and Race thanks, I think I was just being scared. The last thing I wanted to do was scratch the piston or cylinder wall. I’m disassembling them in order to have them powdercoated. After that, new inner and dust seals will be replaced.

Just finished rebuilding one caliper and I'm not even going to attempt the second one. What a nightmare!
@bsouza16755 жыл бұрын
Can you elaborate exactly what the nightmare was? I need to rebuild two calipers myself. Maybe I can mitigate the issues if I prepare. Did you buy new calipers? In the US they cost about $600(USD) approx. 456(GBP)

Refurbishing my front brembo calipers , a question I need you guys to answer is should the piston seals be dead square or slightly cerved ???
@RoadandRacetv8 жыл бұрын
+Lewis Cannon The seals should fit snugly in the groove and not be twisted or bowed.
@lewiscannon82138 жыл бұрын
Road and Race : cheers fella I will buy new seals then , it's jus brembo parts are so frecking expensive £385 so far & still may need couple of pistons :(

What website are you finding the parts at?
@williammorris33343 жыл бұрын
If you buy your parts from Pelican Parts they have a life time replacement warranty- even expendable items like brake pads! Save the boxes and receipts and mail them back and they replace them for shipping costs.

Why oh why oh why would you go to all that effort and not clean the caliper properly???? I've just taken mine off purely to clean them up!!
@timmo4913 жыл бұрын
If you're just driving around on a track at a reasonable pace there's no difference than using the thing on the road. If you're getting a lot of fade just use harder pads. No point. Also its 'Porsche' not 'Porsch'. You pronounce the 'e'. Good luck with it.
