You do things in the process that would have the business closed down and the owner in jail here - many of the things you do are very unsafe. Even minor things like gloves to handle acid, respirators for fumes (not to mention asbestos which is totally banned here - just that will kill the workers in 20 - 30 years) hard hats, even safety boots, I wonder how many lose toes to something heavy. I'm pretty sure most of these blokes could easily afford some safety specs but I suspect that the culture of the tradesmen in this industry does not encourage the wearing of gloves and glasses beyond the mimimal amount practical. I work in a heavily regulated and safety orientated trade so sometimes it's difficult to watch the work practices, but I would really be interested to know the injury rates among these blokes. I image they work with a high level of precision that is somewhat masked by the casual appearance of their actions because they do this stuff all day, every day. That and the fact that a single mistake could render you unable to provide for your family.

Bet it’s not homemade. Bet it started out life in the 50’s in the US. Got trashed for a newer model in the 70-80’s. Went to Pakistan for recycling . And they couldn’t be happier with this nice transmission jack.

I used to do that with the clutch of my WWII Willys Jeep.I still have a wax sealed box of new linings. One thing though; You shouldn't flatten out the fan shaped plates on which the linings are to be riveted. They are meant to not lie flat, but to be slightly twisted at the base so when the linings are attached, you can see those plates form a 'ripple' effect when clutch plate is viewed from the side. This is to create a cushioning effect when the clutch plate is squeezed between the flywheel and the pressure plate, giving a smooth, snatch- free takeup.

That flywheel is absolutely stuffed. The truck place I worked would bin it no matter what. The cracks are too deep to machine out and they do effect the way the clutch operates. The cracks are from the clutch slipping and the flywheel getting too hot

Only non asbestos based clutch and brake liners are available in India since 1995. Brother, India is emerging and consistently improving. We are in BS 6 [equivalent to Euro 6] emission standards and many cars and bikes currently sold across globe have been withdrawn from our market.
