In this video series I show you how to correctly rebuild the rear wheel bearings on a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette. This application is for a vehicle that is going to be judged by the NCRS or other organizations. Excellent. Just passed it along to someone doing a 63 convertible. and though it doesn't apply to my 70, it caused just enough to come to mind to be able to do mine anyway, after not having done one for about 6 years. Great idea about the press.... Not sure if I'll ever need one, but going to build one any way. Never had too much trouble knocking them out if everything was set up and lubed properly in the beginning. I also never get past 10 to 12 thousand miles before I knock them out and do them again. Best of luck to you. I have subscribed, watched every ad, and will be using your channel for my breaks in between my day time desk work, just as I did today, which being a Sunday, makes me especially appreciative of your work.

This is a great video ... I'm a guy that is more of a hands on guy instead of reading about it. So if your like me this video is awesome .im restoring a 1968 L-89 never had the rear end done or body been off the frame . It's time for it to be done. Thank you for this video this helps alot

Nice Video. I have the 1965 to 1982 spindle removal tool and years ago I simply drilled four holes into the main body so it could be used the same way the puller was used in the video. On the 63 and 64 units, it works the same as yours. Forget the spindle knocker tool. What a pain the the back side.

Their isn't any preload on the bearings. Maybe you are just not familiar with bearing nomenclature. Its bearing clearance in this case. The blue color of the bearing could have also been from hearing the bearing for the installation.

Set the clearance without grease. Then grease them when assembling them for the last time.

About 70K miles is typical. Less if it has been driven hard.
