I just did this upgrade using the x-man turbo. I found it easier to mark the arms on top rather than the vanes in the crack. Since the arms are connected directly to the vanes, seemed logical to use the arms instead. Maybe others have done the same? Either way appreciate the video, helped me to get an idea of what id be facing before i cracked her open.

I'm not super into the Toyota videos, but thanks so much for this type of content!! I was dealing with surge issues at 3k RPM on my Passats 1756 hybrid from xman, and I adjusted the actuator according to your specs and it's much better! Going to take some more adjusting and tuning but that was a big issue I couldn't figure out for the life of me.

A little silver anti seize goes a long way on anything exhaust related. Can save a lot of problems next time.

Just bought a tdi with a stage 3 Malone tune and vnt-17 turbo showing signs of wear glad I seen this video I was about to pull the trigger on a new one but I just ordered a new core 👍🏻

On my way home tonight my boost hose blew off my turbo ! it scared the wee out of me! Your video must be for me!! Toyota all good I had to swage lips on the hot pipe I was a bit lazy on first install!!

Thanks for the video! I have a vnt15, and last rebuild, we were not able to tighten the the housing bolts down all the way, or it would make it bind, any ideas what would cause that?

The 3 t-25 screws that hold the vein assembly to the manifold,, what thread pitch are they? Anyone know?

Nice video, nice stuff explained, but - never ever hit aluminium plate for any reason, it brake easy, and even if it doesn't, can bend. INSTEAD, hold with one hand the aluminium plate, and hit/hammer the exhaust housing. - this is not REBUILD, it is changing CHRA.
