What a lucky Tiguan getting a full treatment! I love your videos man. And I love to see that you can make VAG vehicles last long with proper maintenance. Hoping to make my 2018 Tiguan and 2018 Beetle last long!

That bolt he casually removed on the rear that connects the shock to the knuckle is a nightmare on most of these. So much so, that I had to buy new knuckles for both sides. They simply sheered off, and you are stuck choosing to drill them out (= hours of extra work) or new/used knuckles from ebay. So be careful folks, and be prepared to buy parts you didn't think you will need to replace, due to ceased bolts. What a nightmare! Great vide though!

ugh yeah...this car was fine but I shear bolts all the time...we use so much salt on the roads in Canada that everything just seizes where it is...what I've started doing everything I do one of these is to use a lot of heat before I even touch the bolts...basically heat the knuckle with the torch multiple times to get everything loose. I just did the control arms on my Touareg and EVERY eccentric adjustment bolt was seized in the bushings - nightmare! When I do the jobs, I make sure every bolt that goes in is well coated in anti-seize for the next guy :)

The left hand side I couldn't get the knuckle down far enough to clear the strut, the driveshaft joints where bottoming out !, I had to remove the driveshaft bolt, how come you done yours and I have the same car ?
@ETMotorsports7 ай бұрын
hey - not sure what the issue is...you can see in the video I can no problems hammering the knuckle down without disconnecting the driveshaft...

Maybe because mine is the tdi model, there must be a difference !

Same thing happened to me with the top bearing, I just drilled them out from above !

hmm you don't really have much space on either side because of the rain tray...glad it worked for you

So on mine the top bolts and the nut started to spin together. Any tips ?
@ETMotorsports Жыл бұрын
Ugh - same as mine...I ended up welding the nut back up but it depends on which one and what tools you have

@@ETMotorsports man what a pain in the as$ that was. Spent my whole day fighting to get those off. I used a small grinder and a lot of hammering on the bolts, especially the one on the tight side was challenging
@ETMotorsports Жыл бұрын
@TheShakir98 yeah it's a really bad design
@ETMotorsports Жыл бұрын
@TheShakir98 all they had to do was make the nuts longer out of the rubber so you can fit a socket over - no issues

My 2013 4motion R-Line Tiguan has had 6 spring replacements since 2013 and there's only 80,000 miles on the clock. VW springs are awful..
