i used my stovetop to rechamber a old cheap german bow. it was unplayable but now theres some life in it

Shouldn't it be recambering? I thought there was a chamber inside the bow from the title.

The trouble I'm having with my bow is that I'm unable to tighten it fully. Would this be to do with hair misalignement in the chamber?

possibly, or the hair may have slipped at the frog end, either way, i suggest having a violin shop look at it.

I'm such a tightwad. I re-cambered my daughter's bow with the heat from my electric stove. She's been playing for just a couple months, so I'm not going to run out and spend dozens of dollars on a bow and/or bow repair. Seems to have worked just fine. Time will tell.

She's only played for 2 months, and you need to recamber the bow? Are you loosening it when you're not playing?

Content Updating - a bow should not lose its camber in two months even if it's left tightened all the time, if it's not made of lousy wood or was bent poorly.
