This is great information!! My son has been in private OT since he was 3 1/2. At 8, his handwriting is still not very legible and he absolutely hates any type of work that involves a writing utensil. His OT believes he has dysgraphia but when the Texas public school did their testing they said no. I feel like their evaluation was a joke. It was only looking at dyslexia type delays! The entire test was done on the computer! He only wrote one sentence for the entire test!

#shamesprisoner I didn't know you wrote your own book, that is amazing. I grew up with dyslexia and didn't learn to comprehend most reading until high school. I always assumed my "bad" writing (missing letters, more than incorrect words) was a product of my dyslexia. One of the questions on the quiz made me wonder if maybe it was a bit of dysgraphia. At this point, the dyslexia is nearly impossible for me to notice until I re-read things and notice all the missing or incorrect letters. Oh, a simple comment usually takes me a few extra minutes to make sure it is accurate and then I am only right 50% of the time (Maybe less). I think this one is all correct :)

We are Dyslexic sisters from another mother. I feel you. I used to be embarrassed, but I own it how and try to help others to own it and or be a source of inspiration to their parents. Living with Dyslexia is what caused me to have such a work ethnic. Thank you for stopping in!!

It sounds like you may be. Express your concerns to your parents and English teacher. It’s worth being evaluated to determine one way or the other. If you are found to be you can have certain accommodations that can help make it a little easier for you.

If you are able start with seeing an occupational therapist. You can ask your regular physician to give you a referral once you have described her issues to him or her. There are different types of dysgraphia - spatial, motor, or dyslexic. I think it might be helpful to know which one. Also, I will make a video on a few things you can do at home to help.

Hello, yes! generally this isn't something you out grow. Some get better, but they don't outgrow it. So as an adult it could still very much impact you. I don't spell well myself.
