Sorry to be off subject, but she reached out to me on Saturday night (1:45am), and she asked how I was, asked if id seen my parents and how they are, and asked to see me. She was bending over backwards to get a decent time / date for us to meet. Even though she's in a rebound, this has to be good signs, right? I assume she's riding the dragon

Words are meaningless unless you show through your actions that’s what I’m doing not for him but for me we live and learn. So what I’m doing is counselling finding the root cause why I never wanted children this was the biggest reason why we broke up Communication was what we lost. I’m the breakup wasn’t easy. we lost our way. But we still love each other I want to start a family we have reconciled a little as in we have had deep conversations and become intimate nothing forced we both are not doing anything we don’t want just scared of reconciling again

Hey Clay, I went 80 days without contacting my ex and I reached out and we met up. She ultimately told me she doesn’t want a relationship with anyone for a long time because she’s finally been able to focus all her energy on herself and loving herself. She hasn’t even kissed anyone else since we broke up. She wants to be friends. I was hesitant when she said this and told her I don’t want anything platonic with her. I said I’d let her know. She texted me after and said she had a good time and hopes we can be friends. I ended up saying for now I’ll be your friend. Let’s take it day by day. She was happy to hear that. Can I still end up getting her back thru being friends?

I’m in the same situation with my ex. We broke up on the 2nd December 2022. She still wants us to see each other and hang out but as friends for know. I also hope it will lead back to a relationship. We’ve arranged a cinema get together for the 17th Feb and I went into no contact to see if she would miss me. She lasted 6 days and text me, just friendly about the football result but no contact does work.

I think u have a better chance of getting back to her by being her friend and talking to her working on ur communication better and working on yourself in the mean time if you love her you can love her as a friend the only difference is your not having sex but it seems like she still cares about you if she still wants to be friends and long time lovers are best friends so keep ur head up and be opening to pray to Jesus he has really helped me thru my break up TBH

Hi Clay. My ex started dating someone else 5 days after I moved out. We were together for 5 years. Did 40 days NC, and she reached out to me at our local gym several times during this time. After reconnecting I told her I started seeing someone else too. She was very "hot" for about a month, said she was jealous, was very emotional around me, cried a lot, hugged me a lot and for a long time. She mentioned how we connected so well now all of a sudden, only after being broken up and that it hurt a bit. She also told me how she saw that I had changed and grown. I mentioned not being so interested in the person I was dating anymore that we didn´t know anything in regards to the future. After this meet-up she went completely cold/silent, then I found out her and the rebound had gotten official 4 days later. They then celebrated new years together and we have almost not talked since. Last time we talked (a phone call 2ish weeks ago) she told me that her rebound had found it really difficult that we had been spending time together and especially around Christmas. She told me not to tell her about how much time we spent together during Christmas if I met her (we train at the same gym) I take this as a sign that I should back off? Even though she didn´t specifically tell me to? The emotional connection was very good right up til the point when she turned cold. Have I blown my chances? Or is there still a chance for reconciliaion later down the road, even though the connection went from good to worse, and has stayed worse since? I can also mention we already had the "same team"-conversation, which is why I think she was so okay with us spending time together as "friends"

Nah She went cold because she is at the critical point but she is going to dig her heels in Just leave her alone Don’t talk to her or even try when/ if you see her unless she reaches out to you When she does don’t volunteer any info because you have already said everything Just continue with no contact and work on you You will get stronger and she will begin to feel you slipping away THAT IS WHEN THE TABLES TURN!!!!…..

Hey Clay. I had a question. So my ex (avoidant) and I (anxious), we broke up in May 2021. He ended it. We reconnected in April 2022 and things have been hot and cold since where we've met on and off casually (also intimately - but not all the way - without labels). He works a very demanding job and has little time to spare. Lately (since Christmas), I feel there's something at his end that's just making him take some space away from everyone in general. We talked about it but as you said we have a tendency to blame overselves so I spoke to him. I think it's most likely not about me or us and something he is going through. He hasn't told me what's bothering him. I did try to check in but he says he just needs some space and hope I understand and there wasn't a need to check in (probably implying its not that serious but that he just needs some time). Then he went on to apologise saying he didn't want it to come off as rude as that is not his intention but he just needs some space. So I didn't inquire further. Just told him he didn't need to apologise and that I was just checking in on him since he sounded down and had a back injury. He didn't say much to that and said "Got it, yes okay." It was like he didn't want to share what's happening with him. In the past yr of 2022 he has selectively been vulnerable with me on 2 or 3 occasions but he is also very guarded because of our messy break up.. the trust factor between us is still dicey. I know the obvious thing to do when an avoidant ex asks for space is to give it to them. But any other tips for me to handle this situation? My anxious tendencies act up sometimes and I just get in my head a lot and worry about if I'll ever talk to him again when the gap in between becomes long and we haven't texted for a couple of weeks and have not met for a few months. Please share your thoughts on this, I'd be really grateful!
