Sort of? I tried using a USB headset to confirm it worked, but I wouldn't recommend using it to record vocals. I'd go with a pair of headphones or just the internal mic to be honest.

How do I record only my voice and not the music? Every time I record my voice with it also records the music. Like, if I isolate the track with just my vocals, the music is also heard in the back, which doubles the loudness of the instrumental. Took me 3 days to work out all I have to do to record my modx is put it on this. Wish I had seen this earlier.👍use the voice option on GarageBand the one with the Mike then you can use all the sounds from modx into GarageBand instead of it reverting back to GarageBand instruments

So I just recorded some vocals for a song, and I’m happy with the way they turned out, but I can clearly hear the sound of my shirt rubbing together as I stop the recording. I think there’s a way that you can trim the recording so you can edit that extra noise out, but I’m not sure how to do it. Perhaps you could cover that in a future video if you haven’t already. Great video as always Pete! Quick question for you ref the Samson usb mic which I’ve been using for a month or two now on your video recommendation of it. It’s a superb piece of kit, but just lately it doesn’t power up with the blue led light when I pug it into the ipad via the apple usb 2 adaptor, unless I pop the charger in too then the mic powers up and I can even then unplug the charger lead and it will still be powered up from the ipad alone. Just wondering if you have encountered this problem or heard of it before. Don’t want it happening if we go out to do a field recording where I have no mains power to help boot it up. Many thanks if you can offer any advice. 👌🎶

Does an audio interface like this allow you to monitor only the (post processing) wet signal in the headphones while recording? I have a usb Mic with a headphone jack and I can monitor the wet signal, but the dry signal is always mixed in.

The thing is with the new iPad Pro that doesn’t have a headphone jack, when you connect your headphones garage band thinks it’s a microphone, and then you want to record your guitar with previous drums a bass you have to disconnect the headphones and then it all get mixed up, no clean guitar on the channel. It’s really a nightmare. Any comments?

Hey, thanks for video, I'm planning to get the gear you use. But when I plug my mic, I cannot hear the "out" button anymore. Is there a solution for that? Even Bluetooth headset didn't work. How can I listen my voice when I'm recording with my mic at the same time? Thanks again!!

What up pete do you think recording vocals in garageband ios is just as good quality as recording vocals in lets say fl studio or logic? Or does it really come down to the microphone?

Yup. It’s mostly the hardware you’re using and the plugins. Something like Logic may have a more advanced compressor or EQ. But if you’re recording in 100% clean vocals, it’s just converting them to 1s and 0s whether you’re on an iPhone in GarageBand or a $10,000 Pro Tools rig.

@@PeteJohnsMusic I see thank you for the feedback I was just wondering cause I recently got fl studio but I have the apogee hypemic its works perfectly with garaband ios but it wont record with fl studio for some reason so I was thinking of just recording the vocals on garageband ios then email them to the computer and mix them on fl studio

Quick question? New to GarageBand and know nothing lol, when I click on my track options pop up but I can’t use them I click on delete or settings or any other option it doesn’t work....I’m on iPad 2020 and I’m usuing the pencil and not a keyboard 😔

That’s odd? There is an issue with the mouse at the moment that it sometimes doesn’t register. You need to physically tap on the screen. So it may be related to that
