If your backup is saved to iCloud you do not need a computer, you'll be able to just download your backup from the cloud when you're ready. If your device was backed up to your computer through iTunes instead of to iCloud, then you would need the computer you backed it up to.

Hi Lauren, If you have a backup of your iPhone on your computer, you should still be able to do this with your iPhone connected to your computer and iTunes open. However, if you don't have a backup of your device saved anywhere, then there won't be any data to restore from. Hi there, If you have your phone set to back up to iCloud automatically, it should have backed up several times since you enabled automatic back up. If you select "Back Up Now" it will start backing up your device including all your apps, photos, and files that are currently on your device.

It’s sounds pretty straight forward, you can just do a backup on your phone RIGHT NOW, and then reset your phone. Also make sure to write down all passwords to your accounts. Than you can log back in to 2014 or 2016, to access your old photos. Simply airdrop them to your MacBook, or store them on another PC, then reset your phone AGAIN, Then chose your latest backup in 2020, and you should have everything INClUDING your old messages on your MacBook/PC.
