Ii just did the full restore and it worked. Sign into icloud from your laptop to view the last time the phone was backed up. I only lost the messages from last night at 10pm till today at noon because I chose last nights back-up

I don't understand how the set up on the message app makes it so easy to delete the messages; yet, it's such a hassle to retrieve. For the money that's spent on these phones, Apple can do much better than that. The initial deletion should go to a folder and we should be given the option to retrieve the message from that folder and restore without making it a project.

Wow, way too complicated and too risky to end up dumping everything. There has to be an easier hack for this. With emails I simply go to a trash can open it up and can recover things there. iPhone recovery is only available in the Mac version of Disk Drill.
