Wow - thank you for this!! As others have said, yours is the best example out there. My headliner is very similar (‘88 S10 Blazer). I’ve had my materials prepped and ready for some time, but was just afraid to start gluing - now I’ll make it happen! I patched my tears and weak spots with fiberglass mat. I also laid down a thin layer of resin over the entire face of the liner board. Not enough to make it heavy and stiff, but just enough to give it some rigidity. I was also thinking it would help the glue stick better than it would to just the raw backer. Maybe was a big mistake - time will tell… Anyway, thanks again!!

Suggestion - If the board is decomposing like at 12:40 try sealing and hardening it with spray polyurethane before gluing the cover on. That will vastly increase the adhesion of the glue. After you remove all the soft, rotted material of course.

Great video, great name. I really like the line: "The dust flies in your eyes, and it hurts!" (That's your dried out headliner foam). Definitely words of wisdom to heed! I checked out the spray gun on amazon, somebody obviously got a lemon:-( Looks like we might need a few fittings for it, nothing major, but I would think some people might struggle w/ that. Really great video. Thanks and I like your lucky needle website as well. Last comment - thanks for the links to all the items. A lot of people don't do that and it's super helpful. I'm subscribing just because of that!:-)

Brother, I'm so glad I stumbled upon your video!!! I was just about to use SPC's method where you pierce the headliner with a syringe-type needle attached to your can of adhesive. In the back of my mind, I always wondered HOW the glue would stick to the crumbly, deteriorated foam AND retain the fabric liner. You answered that question! This job looks time-consuming but NOT difficult if you're methodical. Thanks for sharing!

davidnesbitt09 I agree with you . I was skeptical if I should replace my headliner on my e36 BMW. I was going to buy the spray at Home Depot and just put it like if it was glue on paper on spots that are falling lol. It’s a harder than it looks. It’s useless to just use a quick spray because it will eventually still fall. It is a process that requires careful attention. It’s better to have it done properly and professionally. Watching this video convince me to take my car to a professional to get a new headliner on my car. It’s best to replace it brand new with a professional instead of trying to glue pieces that fall I think. If the headliner is taken off mine as well get a new one and have your car look like new again😝. Hey if it’s not done professionally, why even bother ? Lol I hate all the Mickey Mouse tricks that people use to save money lol. Using even a piece of tape on my car for whatever reason drives me crazy lol. It is your car . Be proud to own it and make it look good lol . I am a car lover 😎. I definitely want a brand new headliner on my car . Looks awesome when it’s brand new and clean and not just glued back on, the nick back way lol

I think using glue and canvas to reinforce is a cool idea. I used polyester resin and fiberglass to strengthen weak areas on my headliner. it was my first time using fiberglass and it wasn’t too bad. very strong, but have to let it outgas for a few days before going back in the car.

I saw another video channel where the guy put a round wire cup like brush wheel in a hand drill and held at a very low angle to the headliner, the drill laid down close to the headliner, running at a high rpm, took the foam right off fairly fast. I tried and worked great after a little practice, your just skimming the surface and run the spin direction so that the wires bounce off the foam edge into the area you have already done instead of the area you haven't done yet, will keep the drill much more stable. Cuts through even the good condition old foam! The wire hand brush doesn't move the brush fast enough to literally knock off the foam with pulling on the headliner material causing damage. Definitely use 2 or 3 people!!!!!
